Makes sense in a way - I keep reading that used cars are so much cheaper in the UK than the rest of Europe!

I hope some of it lives on. thumbup

This thread draws to a close,

The other day I started it up, and on were the ABS, ASC and the handbrake light. Oh dear. These were combined with a lack of speedometer, also.

I attempted to fit a wheel speed sensor, but it was well and truly stuck in the housing. The sensor broke off flush with the rear arm.

While doing this I noticed that the subframe was starting to pull out of the boot floor too. All of these combined mean it's curtains for the car. Listed it on Facebook, and I've been left a deposit. It'll be collected on Tuesday.

Sad end for the old thing, but it's as I imagined it would go. 40,000 trouble free miles all around Europe and some happy memories.

Some final pics from the ad I posted up.

Oh damn it! I want these mint green sport seats so desperately! It is impossible to find these sport seats for sale! frown Some might remember me, I bought my E46 with mint green interior over two years ago and posted some photos here as well... And now I see it is important to keep this thread alive! biggrin So here is some new shots, it is a project car, so there are a lot of upgrades wink

The E46 gets better with every new 3 Series. The current one really is a pig.

Ah, my apologies about that. I sold the whole car for £500 in the end, it went to The Netherlands to donate its engine to a lesser E46. Hopefully the interior was used too. I still miss it, and wish I'd kept it but there was no point in it. The rear subframe was starting to remove itself, and the rust was getting worse by the day.

The ALPINA splitter on the front of yours looks really nice. Look after it, as I think the M52 is my favourite engine in the E46. It felt nicer than the 3.0 did to me for some reason. Mine also used no oil and ran wonderfully all of the time. A friend also has a 328ci in green with a green interior. His is the dark half leather interior. The early E46 is my favourite of the 3 series. Shame 95% of them for sale are in poor shape, or not what I want.

I replaced it with another 3 series. An E91 330i. Manual, and also with a cloth interior. Black time time, but still with sport seats. I prefer the feeling of sitting on cloth to leather. Not to mention it holds up to 'use' much better, too.

My old car! (I fitted the Pioneer system and the blackline tail lights - both official BMW items)
Owned it 2010-2014, nice to see a few other enthusiasts enjoying it since. Looks in great shape too! Hope you enjoy it.

Your location in your profile suggests you're the owner that spent a fair amount keeping it right, so thank you for that. Moreso for having the suspension and audio sorted!

It's now got the late model navigation with some other bits retrofitted too.

It's on 157,000 miles now and I've no plans to be rid of it before 200 large. I bought it with 138,000 miles on it in July 2019. It's been a really good daily, and lucky with it's owners. These cars tend to fall into the 'unloved' area after a few years, but this one hasn't.

Forgot about the Birds suspension - that cost a decent amount but was worth it. Those cloth seats look amazing for 157k miles, so much better than leather would be with that amount of use. The electric lumbar is a rare but very welcome option too.

During my ownership (50k miles from 2015-2019) I ran it with rotbraun LCI leather & wood trim, the cloth was safely stored and explains why it still looks fresh! I did miss the electric lumbar support on the cloth. I do still miss this car, especially now I’ve gone auto...

Couple of interior shots of it with the LCI leather fitted, before the wood trim & CIC controller went in.

Funny you should say that, in the lockdown I've been planning on doing a thread to keep track of what I've done to the car.

I've ordered a set of silver cube trims and a new iDrive controller for it to go in too. Might be time so start dtafting a thread... smile

Looking forward to it! I found the CIC controller much easier to use with the additional buttons, compared to the CCC one. Thankfully it’s plug and play and very easy to swap over.

Any old pictures of the car while under previous custodianship over there are most welcome.

I'm looking forward to the CIC controller. That and the mounting bracked have arrived. Once the new trims are here it's all going in. Hopefully this week.

Since this is the only thing I can find about green E46 seats, thought I'd share the special interior I picked up tonight.

BMW Individual Alcantara in a green/blue colour. Don't have much info on it yet so I don't even know the exact colour.

Wow!

I've got an E46 Individual brochure and that colour isn't in there.

Eybl is the company that made the fabric btw.

I reckon it is Titanic Blue. It looks much darker in the individual brochure but there is a picture online of an Alpina E39 with Titanic Blue Alcantara which looks identical. Very snazzy!
ETA it looks like a dark and light version of Titanic blue is available. This would be light.
