Thank you!

Lots of the brake fluid was changed when I did the brakes, and even replaced a caliper, but I need to get some more out of there. I also need to replace the front wings, but that's after a wheel bearing and making sure the RACP is all fine. I'm not sure if it's turn slightly or needs a diff bush or two. At the moment this thing properly sheddy. hehe

I would like to throw a little more money at this though, it's a low owner car with lots of history and is in great condition inside. Time will tell though, sitting in a field for a year hasn't been ideal for it.

This is who I use for E46 wings, good fit and finish. Had two for two different cars.

Not a bad price at all for a pair of wings. Ever the excellent parts supplier. Thanks Helix.

The Altoids weren't on purpose, they're just my favourite flavour of them. Every time I go to the states I have to stock up!

what's the sellers name please? Can't see it in the picture. Is it easy enough to change the front wings?

The wing seller is crabblaneparts. They are just bolted on. You need a good torx socket for the top bolts, I buy a new set in case of problems.

Got some supplies for the old shed today. Black Friday did me good. 8 litres of 5w30 LL-04 oil, 6 NGK sparks, and 2 oil filters. All for £78. Combined with the leftover oil I have from before I'm good for two services now! Currently runs the Halfords oil, and has been really happy on it. Used none over almost 9,000 miles, and runs nice and quiet with good fuel economy. Of course there's an image of my haul. Will service it in a few weeks. Air filter doesn't need doing as I did that at about 106,000 miles.

There did you get the NGKs from? Going to get some of that oil myself smile

I got them from GSF. They've currently a Black Friday deal which means 60% off. ECP has a pretty similar deal too if they're more convenient for you. smile I'm still impressed by the Halfords oil too. Dipped the sump yesterday and still used absolutely none. Testament to the old M52 and the oil in it.

That's not bad for a pair of only slightly rusty wings. Shame it's a 500 mile round trip to collect them for me!

My passenger side front wing went from a small amount of bubbling similar to the one linked above to being very unsightly within 12 months and the car/wheel arch gets a good clean every weekend. If it's bubbling on the outside its knackered on the inside. Get a new pre-painted one (also completely undersealed) from crablaneparts or similar, fit it and forget about it for the rest of the life of the car. The wing isn't a perfect fit (I'd say quite good though), but the colour match and paint finish was very good and it's an easy enough job to do.

The wing linked above may only be £30, but quite honestly that's asking too much in my opinion. If it was £10 and less than 10 miles down the road, it may just about be worth it for 12 months motoring if you can't afford to spend £120 (each) right now.

Agree with the above. The pattern wings still give better panel gaps than a brand new F30.

Didn't see the bubbling. With bubbles it's not really worth anything but at 10 quid to replace a really fked one, not a bad deal. Pattern wings are a mixed bag and the last one I fitted required a lot of work to get a perfect fit. They're usually pretty nasty and wrinkled at the front where the flange bolts to the inner wing and require filing to clean the front tip and a smear of filler to correct the wrinkling.

They're all at the age now where finding a perfect pre facelift wing is nigh on impossible unless it was replaced before. A pity BMW didn't subcontract E46 body manufacture to Renault or another manufacturer that can build a car body capable of lasting 10-15 years without dropping to bits.

More of an update for the old thing, bar putting more miles on it.

Wings have finally been replaced! woohoo

Bought a used set on the bay for £85 total. Required a trip from Newbury to Gillingham and back to collect them, but all is well. Fitted them, and they went on easily. Colour match is good, and even if they do rust again in 12 months, it is so much better than the utterly shagged wings that were on it. I cut myself re-taping the O/S wing, which sealed their fate too. I also got the parking sensors working again with a used genuine sensor from ebay. Much nicer to have them, even if they're not really needed.

Before, Under the tape. How bad they really were.

Taped up, proper chav spec. hehe

New wing on. Much better!

Ref the green seats....

I actually specc'd them on a brand new black 318i company car about 17-18 years ago. I was planning on handing my notice in so thought what the hell. The guy who inherited off me wasn't too pleased.
