New Toy - M140i
Discussion
Yeah the £319 deal is 8k a year.
I ordered my 240 completely debadged, i guess the exhaust will give it away to most still though.
Went for grey with brown leather and brown roof with the light wood interior, looks nice in pictures so will hopefully translate to a noce spec, or be a complete abomination.

Does anybody know if the MP exhaust is valved - so still quiet when in comfort mode?
I believe the MP exhaust doesn't have a valve and BMW supply a small adapter to plug into the wiring loom where it would normally plug into the standard exhaust, presumably to prevent any error codes. CarsOrBikes said:
I'd definitely have the adaptive, and auto, but also the M Performance brakes, not the blue M Sport plus, but the bigger ones to make it stop as well as it goes. 3 door, and with the MP exhaust too, it'd be nice. As above, don't see so many in Red.
I have the blue M sport plus brakes, but the hazard warning lights come on every time I've braked hard for a roundabout or traffic lights. So you can have your incredible brakes, but it seems that BMW would prefer you not to use them!Monty Python said:

No. Closer to £25k and probably a bit less if you play your cards right.
Could you point me in the direction of these £25k cars.Have a quick look on babybmw.net too.

CarPlay hands your infotainment screen over to your iPhone - when CarPlay is running everything on your screen is generated from your iPhone. This means that when Apple updates iOS, CarPlay gets updated too, maybe not so much of an issue with new cars, but if you are keeping it for a while you won't get stuck with a dated infotainment screen and miss out on the latest features.
As someone who develops automotive HMI, I can tell you that Apple do a much better job of it than car manufacturers.

Great cars, look fantastic. Shame so many will be autos though. Manual boxes will be very sought after later down I reckon.
I had an 8 speed 218d courtesy car for a couple of days, was good at what it did but zero fun. Far too many gears and so didn't suit the diesel at all. I imagine it works well with the b58 engine but I just can't imagine it being any fun when the novelty wears off. Evo seem to suggest the manual fits the 140i & 240i better.

Currently CarPlay offers nothing more than the new iDrive does.As someone who develops automotive HMI, I can tell you that Apple do a much better job of it than car manufacturers.
As mentioned above, as the car gets older it will be a bonus to have it but for the moment, the BMW system does practically everything CarPlay does

These all look so nice. Seriously thinking of trading the ST in and buying one of these as my daily. What are they like to live with everyday (A B road and Mway driving)?
I'd consider rebadging as a 116i for laughs too.
Might pop in Stockport BMW tomorrow as I'm passing...
After some serious saving we rejigged our cars - from an F10 M5 and 120d to X5 (F15) 50d and the 140. I have been really surprised by the 140 as whilst it is not as comfortable as the M5/X5 it is more than comfortable enough for town and motorway and in the last month the X5 has only been out once! I have used the 140 on the motorway and used the phone for good lenghts of time with no concern re. noise. I was also pretty amazed to get 43mpg when cruising at 75 with eco on! I'd consider rebadging as a 116i for laughs too.

I didnt opt for adaptive suspension and I haven't missed it.. Once or twice I have wondered about 4 wheel drive but then I did the same in the M5.. not for point to point as the rear is so predictable when driving like a redneck but putting the power down from low speeds in poor traction... that said, when 4x4 is available (I believe on the next model of 1 Series) I do hope it doesn't give awful under steer like the RS3 does or feel boring...
And my biggest surprise, through the twisties the 140 is as quick as the M5 (well, in my hands anyway) primarily as the M5 is such a boat.. clearly on the motorway the M5 has much more pulling power but a) how many times do you get to do licence loosing speeds and b) the M5 is so comfortable that you lose the raw sensation of speed that you get in something like a 911Turbo.
