Latest software loaded on the CAS*, car parked on the drive next to the front door, motion activated night security light, eight year old car. I found out from a combination of police/pcsos/neighbours that there had been several vehicle thefts locally over a two day period as well as several sets of stolen plates. I know of two other vehicles taken from drives during the day with at least one of those with the owner at home. Clearly an organised gang so there is little you can do if they really want to take the car, my insurance covered most of the cost and I had the money to buy another before the money came through so annoying, but not the end of the world. I am glad my wife did not walk out of the house while they were there.

* New version prevents key cloning, however it turns out that you can force a downgrade to an earlier version that does.

It is unfortunate, mine was stolen back in March aparently on a trailer, the neighbour saw it being loaded and thought the car had broken down. He noticed some foreign number plates but couldnt remember where from. There were a few thefts reported when mine went.

I think a Ghost , a tracker as well as an aditional alarm is probably the max you can do.. oh and a steering wheel lock.

When and where was yours stolen from?

A couple of years earlier than your's and without being too specific the south east wink

The road is too narrow to use a low loader to get a car off the drive, if it is dead and an auto then some careful manoeuvring of a recovery truck with a hoist is needed. Between buying the new one and getting the Ghost fitted I removed a couple of fuses, put a remote control shed alarm inside the car (possible to open the door and reach the obd socket without setting off the standard alarm) and added a home made steering lock made out of a chunk of timber and a decent motorbike lock. I only used it at the weekends so that lot was not as inconvenient as it sounds.

Leave it with very little fuel in it, and disconnect some electric connection

Fit a Ghost immobiliser by Autowatch. I have one on my M3 and its brilliant. I have mine connected via a tracker so can be controlled by SMS. They wont be able to start the car ever, quickly anyway.
