F30 heated rear window question

Is my heated rear window defective? Or are they all like this?

The top few lines of BMW rear windows contain the AM/FM aerials, so aren't heated and won't clear..

I has been a while since I used mine, but while the top line is an antenna, perhaps even the second one, I don't remember such a large area being unheated.

I have the same query with my 435 (F33) convertible, where the top three out of 12 heated elements never work. I raised this with my local BMW dealer who explained that this was normal as the integrated aerial's power requirements utilises these three elements. Consequently these particular elements at the top of the rear window will not operate. The screen will however fully de-mist in time. Photos to follow.
