I'll ask them. When I had an E46 with the M54 6 cylinder engine, people used to talk about replacing the VANOS solenoid o rings. Does the N52 suffer with that issue too?
The solenoids in the N52 are a slightly different design, they just have one big O-ring that seals where they enter the block, not sure if causes issues in the same way or not.

As it happens I finally decided to do something about my very intermittent P0015 codes (usually VANOS related). I'm going to chance it on some mickey mouse solenoids from ebay. I figure the risk is low since they're extremely easy to get to. The saving over genuine parts is huge! (Genuine approx £180 a pair, ebay about £30.)

The N52 solenoid o rings just leak, they don’t cause other problems.

I bought a pair, fixed an intermittent inlet issue, but then caused a (worse) exhaust timing issue. Complained and got sent a pair FOC.... Car running fine - the pair were £39 off eBay.

Guys - just a heads up to say I've just put my 25k miler E91 330i SE up for sale on the Bay.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm only selling due to needing an SUV for easier access for my son who is disabled. There are no other reasons and the car is A1.

Hope the link is allowed!

I'm open to fair and reasonable offers but don't take the pith smile

"Frugal" made me smile. It's lovely but over priced surely. It's never going to be a classic so I don't see how the mileage carries such a premium, but hope you get it.

Its pretty good for a 3 litre - Im getting 35 average.

Yeah I agree the price is a bit optimistic. I'll give it a few days and reduce it.

If I end up with 7-7.5 Id be happy tbh

To be fair I think they are pretty frugal considering they've got a 6 cylinder petrol engine in them!

My 325i E91 is showing 34.8 mpg on the OBC which I'm happy with.

My E91 330i averages 28mpg and that's quite a lot of motorway mileage. It is an auto.

My 2.5 does 27 around town and 38 as a maximum on long runs. Can never decide whether cruise is more economical than your right foot....

Ive just dropped the price after the feedback!

I do think these are an awesome car.

When I bought it I was faced with a bit of a dilemma as I wanted to buy something (not lease) that needed to be an estate, wanted petrol and wanted a manual gearbox and it needed to be fairly quick (had just come from an F10 M5)

Everything available at the time seemed to be Diesel as from this genre of car most were - that's what the market wanted.

Whilst I agree they will never be a future classic, they do tick a lot of boxes for the PH family man.

I'm currently driving a huge Nissan Pathfinder (2.5 diesel haha) and its the total opposite of everything I love in a car. That said it's curiously satisfying in way because it's so utilitarian - It forces you to accept it for what it is and its kind of OK for bumbling along in

I think anything with a big petrol engine which isn't "special" is difficult to sell. I paid £3,400 for my 55 E91 330i. It's immaculate with 87k, pro sat nav, leather and auto. Silver, but you can't have everything. At that price I don't care how many mpg it does, but many wouldn't even consider it.

I think you'll get what you're after for it. Someone who knows what that is and is looking for one will cough up. It's just a question of how long it takes.

Hopefully yeah.

I put it on AutoTrader this morning and had a bit of interest.

A chap wants to view tomorrow or Tues and is supposed to be calling back later to arrange...I've heard that before too lol.

No rush to be honest. Part of me wants to keep it but we'll be moving house in the next few months so my wife is thinking otherwisesmile

There's a distinct lack of competition on auto trader and ebay at the moment so you might get close to asking. Good luck with the sale.

That was a bargain! I'd have happily paid a bit more - for a manual! frown

I thought it was cheap too. The guy was advertising it on here at £4k and hadn't got any interest. Not sure PH is a great place to sell a car
