E91 Straight Six Bearding

That dreaded day has finally arrived.
On the way home the amber temp light came on, followed shortly by the red.
Luckily it was only a short way from home - temp went to 110 / 120.
Stupid that theres no eml - the thermostat is stone cold, the top of the rad hot.
If I didnt know better Id think the thermostat was at fault but theres no noise from the pump and there are 2 fault codes when I plugged in Auto Con. Both relating to the pump - one for speed and the other cut out. To be fair the speed has been there a while so it was just a matter of time. Just shy of 120k so not bad for the original part I guess.
Whats the cheapest anyone has got a pump and stat for? Will try my local factors but online they range from £240 to £500+ !
Ive just had a holiday this month, the 5 failed on tyres on Weds so a bit of an expensive month, glad to see the back of it...

I got a Pierburg pump from eBay for c.£250 and my mechanic fitted it for £100. On the way home the amber temp light came on, followed shortly by the red.

There are unbranded pumps on eBay for even less.
On an unrelated note, here's one for the N52 geeks...
I was of the understanding that everything that bolted onto the block used aluminium bolts to prevent seizing by galvanic corrosion. With this in mind, I ordered replaced bolts to go with the VANOS solenoids I've just bought, on grounds that reusing alloy bolts (again) was asking for trouble.
The bolts that turned up are steel. Thinking I (or the seller) had got something wrong, I went to check my car and the bolts that are currently in there are also steel. I've had these out before, so I'm pretty sure they're not seized!
Huh.
So, you can use steel bolts then?

Ive just dropped the price after the feedback!
I do think these are an awesome car.
When I bought it I was faced with a bit of a dilemma as I wanted to buy something (not lease) that needed to be an estate, wanted petrol and wanted a manual gearbox and it needed to be fairly quick (had just come from an F10 M5)
Everything available at the time seemed to be Diesel as from this genre of car most were - that's what the market wanted.
Whilst I agree they will never be a future classic, they do tick a lot of boxes for the PH family man.
I'm currently driving a huge Nissan Pathfinder (2.5 diesel haha) and its the total opposite of everything I love in a car. That said it's curiously satisfying in way because it's so utilitarian - It forces you to accept it for what it is and its kind of OK for bumbling along in
I think you'll get what you're after for it. Someone who knows what that is and is looking for one will cough up. It's just a question of how long it takes.I do think these are an awesome car.

I got full asking price (8k) to the first person to see it without any haggling so it was an easy sale
Wanted to get a pump Friday but no one had immediate stock? How many E9* petrol cars are there that run these pumps? My local factors was only coming up with £650+ prices.
Eurocarparts had one for £580 + £70 for the t stat. Discount code brought it all down to £388.
Now just have to find time to fit it when it arrived Monday..

I initially paid one of those cheaper prices being quoted from spareto for a pierberg..but I didn't trust it was OK as it had what looked like an internal oil leak..it was probably OK, but didn't know. It took me 2 months to get a refund - and only because I continually chased - I almost thought I wouldn't. In the end I bought a pierberg pump from ECP with one of their discount codes they always have, I could stomach that cost, and it's no worries if there's a problem. The one from ECP also came with new Alu bolts.
I don't buy from autodoc, spareto etc. that come from abroad - they're probably fine most of the time, but when things go wrong, it's a right faff, and I don't mind being a marginal premium to have less hassle when that happens.
Don't get the stat from ECP though - that's junk. I got an OEM by Mahle from eBay.

That buycarparts site is legit? The notification requests and trying to push a mobile app put me off a bit. Also what are all the options for different pumps, anyone know? https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/oen/7586925

Looking at those two, I spy one has the replacement alu bolts with it, the other doesn't. Ironically the cheaper one includes the fastenings...!
