So I’m going to prob put my car up for sale next week. What you reckon about where I should pitch it?

It’s silver with black leather. 2009 LCI, Pro nav, parking sensors, adaptive xenons, heated seats, 103k miles, auto (with m3 paddles so up down one side each rather than the push pull things), michelin pilot sport 4 all round with 2000 miles on them. Bought AUC from BMW 2 years ago and comprehensive insured warranty running monthly. MOT next week which I can only assume it’ll fly thorough so call it 12 months MOT.

I was obviously off with £5k. Was thinking maybe £7500-8500?

Two years ago i was offered my 325d E91 back to me for £7.5k. That had 70k miles i think and 18 months of warranty left.

So maybe around £6k?

If i had my 130i sold i'd be having it off you.

What did you get for it at the end if you don't mind me asking (how much less than asking price)?
I want to get a gauge on what they are selling for.

Wish I'd known aboit those earlier this year. Went with oem on mine. Still, a big improvement to the tiredold shocks that were on.

Tell us more about the steering wheel tho please. Been considering doing something with mine, not least as the matt wrap they put on the centre is peeling as well
Give Jack at Royal Steering Wheels near Aylesbury a google...He takes the old one in exchange after sending you a retrimmed wheel to one's own specification...Picture below from his website which is the one I ordered...He does great quality work and it really gives the whole car a much nicer feel.

I've had a wheel done by Jack in the past and it was a good job.

That looks meaty relative to standard? The wheel Jack did for me was a fair bit thicker than the OEM, to the extent the buyer had me re-fit the original and left me with RSW wheel to sell on separately.

Oooh lovely. Deffo on my list of things to do.

I had my wheel on my 197 replaced under warranty at 40k mi due to it "melting". It's amazing the difference that new wheel made to the connection between me and car. Like having a brand new car again

My mate has a very early f30 4 pot diesel. It is the most basic spec car imaginable. Although it is auto. I used to have an f30 myself which was heavily laden with options including KERS. Anyway I drove his once. Immediately I thought it was awful because the steering wheel was plastic. Imagjne that on a premium vehicle. Then when parking I was surprised to notice the gearnob felt odd. When I checked back in mine the knob has a little leather pad on the rear of the knob where your fingers land. On his it is plastic. I can't begin to imagine who at BMW did the maths on this. The cost of tooling up their production line to make both types surely must be more than what they save on the little 1 inch leather pads.

Compared to the old one it is super meaty (and grippy) which I much prefer but i've no clue what the standard at new feels like...Perhaps Royal go over the existing leather with their re-trim which would make it thicker than standard...

He adds extra padding as standard. I had my E36 wheel done and that was really thin. The thickness made it so much nicer to drive.

It's something I'll have done if I keep my E90.

You can request no extra padding if I recall.

Re steering wheel retrim you can choose the thickness.

I didn't specify any thickness and it came back perfect for me...It's great to find quality craftsmen doing great work at fair prices.
Just had a super morning out in The Dales where the motor was a joy to push and is so dynamic in handling after a 4 wheel alignment.
DTC switched off on damp tarmac which the car just lapped up with ease.

that's pretty reasonable. I think I'd like them to fit it too as I'm getting less hands these days

I'd read that disconnecting the battery and leaving it for a few hours was sensible with respect to dealing with the airbag. Is that wrong or are they taking a risk?

By the book the battery should be disconnected before airbag removal. In reality keys out you’re safe to remove it.

Mine was £110 but that was 5 years ago.

I swapped it myself. Didn't disconnect the battery, just got on with it.
