E91 Straight Six Bearding
Discussion
In the middle of changing the discs and pads on my e91 (or trying to). Got the caliper off, removed the carrier, undone the disc retaining bolt but the disc is refusing to budge. The handbrake is off and I've tried liberal application of plusgas and some persuasion with a rubber mallet but it still isn't budging.
Any tips would be very much appreciated!

Given the disc is scrap I used a metal hammer on it to give it more of a shock. Shagged the disc but got it off.Any tips would be very much appreciated!

Put the hammer down! Put a screwdriver through a wheel bolt hole and unwind the parking brake adjuster. A small toothed wheel. When you refit the new discs you’ll need to adjust the shoes to suit the new discs.Any tips would be very much appreciated!
I was going to echo Helix's comments. I've seen a handbrake assembly come with the disc when a hammer has been used before. All it should take is a couple of hits with a hammer to the hat of the disc near to the hub to break the corrosion seal. Otherwise the handbrake shoes might be catching the inside of the disc.

For the first time in AGES I don't need rear tyres for my summer set on either of my cars, both of which take this size. I bought a pair of Continentals last month too. JakeT said:

Mine were stuck solid. The usual couple of hits didn't move them, so had to be persuaded off. I don't have all the paperwork to track back, but I think they'd been on there for over 50k.Just a Quick Gearbox and diff oil question.

For the first time in AGES I don't need rear tyres for my summer set on either of my cars, both of which take this size. I bought a pair of Continentals last month too. Well, after a few weeks of waiting for parts, and working on the car, my newly bought 335i is finally back on the road.
Fully stripped the interior and cleaned everything, repainted the alu-cube trims in black, new brakes all round, new tires all round, full service, vanos solenoids, turbo pressure regulators and many many other things on the list. Also ditched the Mv3's and put on my old set of Styling 94 which i just refurbished in Satin Bronze.
Hopefully now its in good enough shape to give me some long miles without problems

Looks really good! Was this the one for sale fairly recently on eBay in Cornwall? Seemed like a good buy. A manual E91 LCI 335i is a rare thing!Fully stripped the interior and cleaned everything, repainted the alu-cube trims in black, new brakes all round, new tires all round, full service, vanos solenoids, turbo pressure regulators and many many other things on the list. Thank you.Ebay yes, Cornwall no. Went to Fishguard in Wales after it. I just spent a small fortune on it, and still have loads to do, but the rare factor is what motivated me in the end, so i would say its a decent buy.

Please?
How do you find the gear changes now?
I use Redline ATF, which is an auto transmission fluid, but it makes the gear changes so much slicker. Combined with the CDV removed (just clamp up the hoses either side of the valve, remove the valve and push the grommet out that restricts flow and then put the valve back in) makes such a difference and makes the gear changes feel like they should.
The oil you have chosen will be fine however.
Have a look here..
https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-687-bmw.aspx
That will be fine for the diff too.
I would whack that in, remove the CDV and see how you get on.

I find the gear change can be a bit notchy here and there and I get a bit of a whine in first and second. The cars now done 112k and s far as I can see from the history hasn't had an oil change on either the box or diff so as I was doing the oil and filters for both our car soon I would do them while I was at it.

This is what I use in my BMW manual gearboxes......
https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/redline-d4-atf-us-q...
It makes the gear changes so much smoother, you can feel their is less resistance, which aslos means less protection, but being British I'm sure you can change gears with a stick fine.
Definitely remove the Clutch Delay Valve though, that transforms the gear changes.
I buy it from here though, they are round the corner from me.

I did the diff with this...

So.....I have been working through suspension bits, I had some arms that came off my old E91 that had done maybe 10k miles, so they went on with new drop links, plus I put a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrical 5's non run flats on as well.
Now feels great, nice and tight, problem is it has now shown up that the dampers are past their best, certainly on the front anyway, bugger!
I have ordered new OEM Sachs dampers, dust covers and bump stops and some new OEM top mounts.
I personally would rather have oil filled top mounts and replace every 60k or so than solid ones that last for 100k miles, I just don't like vibrations coming through the chassis that you get with solid bushes.
I know people love the idea of the Bilstein B12 kit, but I think many go from worn dampers to that and think "Wow! These are amazing!".
I went from OEM M-Sport to the B12 kit with 13k miles on the car on my 335i and I was a little disappointed, it was firmer, but if anything I found the back end wasn't actually as planted with them as it was with the OEM set up. Don't get me wrong on a super smooth road they had the edge, but all in all I felt it wasn't overall better.
So I played it safe and went with new OEM dampers etc.
I will fit them on Friday.
I went out with INPA today as well, everything is running sweet as a nut, all monitoring of sensors, solenoids etc. etc. are absolutely bang in the middle of the green zone.
It was serviced in August 2018, but I will do another oil service on Friday when I change the dampers, I have now done 1600 miles in it since Xmas, and the oil has not moved off the half way bar at all. The previous owner said that it didn't use hardly any oil at oil between services, he had stuck in 1/2 a litre just before the service was due, so fingers crossed this is the case.
I really, really don't like the rear lights on the pre lci cars, but the darklines which I paid £109 for a few years back are now £300+.
So I bought some of the stickers that make them all red, oh, and put on a black grille as I am not a fan of chrome at all.
Also, needs a new bluetooth mulf module fitting, all wired up but the unit has died.
However, thinking whether I should put in the NBT system from my F11 and put a new NBT Evo in that.
Although, having said all that, Fiona doesn't like it. She keeps taking the F11.
The whole point of this was to keep the miles down on the F11. Just wondering if I should have bought a Z3 Coupe of Cayman instead.
So, watch this space, maybe a nicely sorted E91 330i for sale soon!

Oh, the other option was to fit the new Pioneer EVO unit to the car, this would give a screen above the trim, centre vents.
The unit it self is hidden, it would go where the oem stereo is, but I would use a blanking plate there.
I would then put in 3 gauges, in BMW orange, for coolant temp, battery voltage and probably oil pressure.
This sort of thing...
This is the Pioneer unit, you can mount the screen separately from the head unit...
BMW do a blanking plate for the radio that came in the GTS...
I think it could work quite well and give you a nice up to date infotainment system.
