Got my car back after nearly 4 weeks at the garage. Wanted them to look into an intermittent EML light but they found a big oil leak and things escalated. Given that the car is 11 years old with 142k I wasn’t expecting too much from the warranty but it was amazing! All this for £100!

Good result. “Lubricated rear wheel bearings” is nonsense though. They are sealed.
They really went to town on that. What warranty is it?
Its the comprehensive BMW insured warranty

Thanks for the info. And the symptoms of an issue with the pipe is the smell of fuel, typically when filling the tank to the max?
That’s the one. In the worst case a full tank will leave a leak under the car.
Yes, my E91 would stink of petrol as I walked up to it whenever it had more than 3/4 of a tank - so I just put less in it until I sold it!

If you can't smell petrol fumes when you have a full tank it's possibly already been addressed.

My E90 doesn't have that issue, so either it is a different installation or it has already been fixed!

Or it hasn't failed yet.

Found a better pic showing the R888 tread pattern.

The old girl has just ticked over 150k so I’ve treated her to a full service, new thermostat, central locking repair and a fresh starter motor as the old one gave up. Driving better than ever, here to another 150k.

Had the work done by JF Autotech in Ascot who were superb.

Been away from the forums for a while, what’s the current consensus on upgraded exhausts? I had a Scorpion system years ago on an E30 325i which really made it sing, and I see they do a cat back for the 330i. I don’t want it too OTT, just find it a bit muted as standard ( already done the golf tee and noticed no difference ) . I love the sound of the BMW PE but they seem hard to find and quite dear, am I best off going to a fabricator and asking for as close as? Anyone got any clips of 6cyl E9x’s with non standard pipes?

Congrats, we're close to 130k here. Good choice of car/colour BTW wink

Mine passed through 156k just this week. Also a 55 plate. smile

Last time I heard a scoripion exhaust was on an E46 330i. It was too loud for me, but I like the sound of the standard exhaust with the flaps open.

My 330i was due a new cabin filter last December, but I only just got round to replacing it.

The new one was white, but this is what I took out. eek

I just need to find the hidden menu now!

At least it's a v straightforward fit (much easier than the E36 where you have to contort yourself under the driver's side dash).

Re hidden menu, do you mean for resetting the service interval? This is the guide I followed, works fine.

I'm a whole service cycle out of date with our cabin filter. Last time it was due, I reset the service indicator and ordered a replacement - but never got round to fitting it (still sat on a shelf in the garage). Recently, the service light has come on again for the same item - must get round to fitting it soon.

I also have a new air filter (engine air filter) to fit, as I don't have any receipts to suggest its ever been changed in 15 years smile Is that an easy job? I imagine you just undo the bolts on the housing and drop the new one in?

Fairly straightforward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lX0WXKqI7c

You have to remove the whole airbox. Not as easy as the panel air filter on the E36.

I've got one to go in as well tbh. Maybe this weekend if I'm feeling motivated.

Can't believe it's not been done in 15 years as it's a standard service item.

Worth checking around for deals on K&N serviceable items and similar.

I bought a Bosch one for £14 during one of Euro Car Parts inevitable sales!

You only need to undo six 8mm screws to remove the filter box then unclip it - a whole lot easier than on an E86 where it hides somewhere above the passenger footwell!

I thought standard pricing from car parts for less is as cheap as the largest discounts from euro car parts and that they are owned by the same company anyway.

Mine is quite a different shape to that... filter isn't flat, it's cylinder shaped.

Like this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYh1Vy7tJFc - but hopefully without the broken air box smile

I have the Scorpion system on mine (N52 330i), it came with the car (and the OE backbox). You can tell it's a straight six, maybe a bit more volume, but it's not anti social at all, I'm quite happy starting it up and it won't annoy the neighbours, I'll also do long drives on the motorway without noticing. You do have to cut the midpipe to fit it though..., so you'd need a new one of those if you wanted to revert back afterwards...
I did once drive without the backbox as it didn't have time to refit it following fettling with the suspension and my alignment being booked. That wasn't as silly as I thought it would be - it was just a bit droney....

Many thanks, that's exactly what I needed. thumbup

I don't suppose anybody knows which fuse I need to pull to stop the pointless, troublesome headlight washers from operating?

TIA if you do!

Sorry, don’t know which fuse but you can code them off with Carly.
