Car prices seem up at the moment.

I don't fancy an auto with black wheels for that price.

This is picky of me but for that money I would want the rear wiper working and the discs looking less untidy.

Good for sellers, I suppose. I don't think that's a 6 grand car though, not unless it's got mega history and is very well cared for.

I'm surprised at the number of E91s for sale with non working or misadjusted wipers. You'd think you'd put it right for sale at least, it would do my head in driving it with it not being right though.

It's not even a big job to sort. 20 mins to remove the spindle, knock the shaft out, a bit of 800 grit to remove any pitting and all back together with some lube.

1 series are just as bad for it, and E46s and E39s got bad for it too.

Anyone know what the service interval is on the front belt and tensioner on N52 please?

There isn't one.

The usual check is to see if the belt is walking off of the tensioner. If it's not you're supposed to be fine.

However, if your car has any decent mileage on it I would change it. I did mine at 145,000 miles when a new A/C compressor was going in. Belt and tensioner looked fine, but it saves an annoying breakage.

Make sure to replace the fastener with a new Ali one too.

Part No. is 11287530315

Mine was about £7 from my local BMW dealer.

Thanks. I thought I was losing the plot to be honest, reading all the information in the handbook and service book and there was no obvious reference.

No, BMW don't say about it. I added the part number and cost for a new bolt in my post too. smile

Thanks. Do you know who make the OEM belt and tensioner?

I do not, no. Something line an INA belt tensioner will be a good shout though. Made in Germany, so should do the trick rightly. I've got an INA one.

Belts, Contitech or Dayco will do just fine.

Agree with that, Gate belts are good too. BMW aux belts last very well. They very rarely fail and you can inspect them easily for cracks. I don’t change them unless they are cracked. The factory idlers/tensioners are often made by INA.

Ive just been quoted £50 for a belt for an n53 by forum favourites Cotswolds. Prefer to pay £12! Where did you get it for £12 and how do I find out which belt is the correct one for my car? (f10).

I always check a few places. Autodoc is a decent starting point.

My E91 has a really annoying squeak coming from what sounds like the inside the rear of the car in the boot area, more so when I have the kids in the back - I've had everything out of the boot, cant see anything there which would be causing it.

Car has covered 226k, just fitted new lower rear shock mounts as I spray greased these and seems help but only had myself in the car when I tested!

Anyone aware of any common squeak issues?! Drives me mad laugh

Does it correlate with anything in particular? Could be the top mounts? Or the shocks themselves? Unfortunately getting to the top mounts is a bugger as you have to remove interior trim (it will fight you).

I wouldn't bother unless I was changing the shocks. There's some details from when I did mine a couple of years ago further back in this thread: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Of course it could be something silly and totally unrelated...

I have a clunk/squeak from the same area. Have for years, incl before and after full suspension refresh. I've always assumed it was the main boot lock that needed tightening up but have never looked into it further than that! laugh

If anyone does know if there's a way to adjust the lock please let me know

Only seemed to start when I had a boot hinge replaced but I've greased the life out of it including the boot catch, no signs of anything rubbing on the latch.

Fitted a Bilstein B12 kit 20k ago with new top mounts but always a possibility, a job I don't want to do laugh

My CCC unit has also packed up, removing that this weekend to send off to a company in Romania to be fixed as I cant even drown the squeak out with music.
