Might be worth looking at live data in INPA if you have the kit. It's not always entirely helpful or easy to decipher what's going on, but it might give an indication of something sinister particularly if you compare the data from both banks.

A basic OBD2 compatible code reader can help diagnose O2 or cat issues through voltage measuring. However, if it's going to a garage it's worth waiting and having them do it.

Does anyone have a known good sat nav DVD for the CCC professional navigation system? Mine hasn't worked since I bought the car as it states DVD read error. I bought a cheap old (but original genuine BMW disc for the professional system) navigation DVD from eBay from 2009, but this doesn't work either. Strangely, the one I bought from eBay doesn't load in my Mac, whereas the one that came with the car does load in the Mac and I can browse the files on the disc. This makes me think that the eBay disc is faulty, despite me being pretty confident it's an original BMW disc.

I have no real intention of actually using the sat nav as it's so outdated compared to a modern phone app. It's just one of things that's annoying me because I know it doesn't work biggrin I'm therefore looking for a known good DVD that I can use to test to figure out whether it's the disc or my drive that's at fault. Ideally as cheaply as possible, I don't care how old it is (even 2005 will be fine) as long as it's recently been tested working so that I will know for sure whether my drive is at fault. Hopefully someone has upgraded to a newer set of maps and has the original DVD lying around smile

I have the Creator C310. I think it does live data.

Yes. It's a bit too chilly outside to be faffing about with cars tbh.

#fairweathermechanic.

I've been considering getting one of those, do you recommend it?

Seems decent, no need to install or mess around with any software. It's not v expensive and seems to be able to read and clear trouble codes. As mentioned above, I think it does have livestream capabilities, adaptation reset etc but I've not delved much into the depths of the menus.

Was very helpful when I had Vanos solenoid issues early on in my E91 ownership experience and also when trying to diagnose the EML issue on my E46.

I bought the Creator on the recommendation of this thread a few months back and it helped me solve my ABS sensor issue. Can't complain!

Something up with mine as well, tried most of that stuff but in the pissing rain back in early December. Ended up manually closing it and left it as a job for later.

Seems it’s got bigger issues at the moment. Went in for a sidelight and MOT and it seems they are replacing the rocker cover, rear wiper motor and gear-lever / selector parts. Seems the insured warranty pays for itself again this year.

I have a spare set of N52 cam cover bolts (I used one or two). Free to the first person to send me a PM. Not all N52s need new cam cover bolts. I think postage will be about £4.
Bolts now posted to a happy N52 owner.
Received - thanks very much!

Thanks Mr Tidy. Booked in with the garage for Friday they are decent. He told me they'd analyse the live data stream etc to see what's that rather than jump to a replace and hope situation. I've also asked them to look at an oil leak at the front, looks like the oil filter housing gasket (again). Fingers crossed nothing too dreadful.
Garage: Has your wife been off road?
Me: Er...(Is that a euphemism!?)
Garage: Looks like she damaged the wiring supplying the O2 sensor underneath. We've repaired the wiring and it should be fine now.
Me: Thanks!

Hi guys, first post nerves! Read this thread from page 1 to here over the course of a few weeks.

Does anyone have experience of KMK in Croydon or BMS in Leatherhead? Need a bit of work done to my E91.

I've no personal experience of either, but soon after she got a Mini my sister had some work done by BMS in Leatherhead and was happy with what they did.

But them she found a specialist in Kingswood that was much nearer to home - although that was Mini only, and has since closed.

She has also moved so has been using GMG Motors in Sutton for the last few years, and she's been happy with their work too.

Ok so I think I may have dpne my battery in tonight. So few miles this year and a long period pf sitting on the drive over Xmas. Tonight I thought I'd take a long drive to the chippy down the road, just to give it a run (it won't get one otherwise for a very long time). Cranked for a while but not quite with enough grunt to fire - it was a soooo close. And that was that 2 more attempts had the obvious effect of further draining the battery.

It's done well as it's still the original 2006 battery, and I've no doubt that it would have been fine in a normal year. But hey ho.

So where best to get one? It's a June '06 model so none of the later gubbins.

I popped down to Halford and got a 5yr warranty yuasa on my trade card.
You should have ibs? Battery change will still need registering and if it's a different ah that will need changing too

Ordered some acoustic foam tape and some cotton felt tape, see if I can't eliminate some interior trim squeaks.
Building up a list of jobs to do already rolleyes
No. 1 fix the sunroof
No. 2 grind back and treat the typical tail gate plastic trim corrosion.

Let us know how that goes, I have a really odd squeak that I can't find or suppress. As for the gate trim issue, BMW actually redesigned the plastic trim which I found an article for when I was pushing for warranty repair on my old one. What age is the car?
