Oh god a remapped one... touching 370bhp. Potential for a small sleeper. Just those exhausts give it away.
True, but other than those of us on here who would know the significance of the exhausts? laugh
True. Personally i like the subtlety of these compared to something like the 1 series m135i where there’s cosmetic differences.

Haha, just saw your post on reddit... lovely car! Titan Silver?

I see you have the proper number plate plinth for the front licence plate! I was wondering if you can see how it is fixed/placed on the car - I have one to fit at some stage but not sure between the OEM holes and someone else being confident with a drill how I am meant to attach properly - is there a sort of bracket underneath?
Thanks! Yeah Titan silver. Really goes well with the rear tints IMO. I’ll have a nosey at the front plates later. See how it’s attached. Oddly enough, I’m not sure I want to keep them. As when I close the boot the rear one doesn’t half rattle! laugh

New Bosch battery on the 330i. Spec is much better than the OE BMW item it replaced (still not close to the battery in the 630 - 95Ah and 800CCA).

While changing the battery I noticed this (unplugged) random connector on the right rear arch. Any ideas?

Thats not a connector, it's a trim clip. I think a tab pushes into it.

Ah, you may be right.

If I was more motivated, I'd get the panel off again and have a look.

It’s a clip. It clips the wiring onto a metal stud on the body. I’d move the cable that’s near the 10mm nut so it doesn’t rub.

Just an update on my E92 330i.

It went to see 'the man' last week for a service and he tested the battery at my request. It turns out it's the original battery from 2008!

So, a replacement has been fitted, a Yuasa which came in at £76.

IIRC they're the same if not very similar to the E39 ones

They have 2 hooks that slot into the bumper underneath and then you either screw it to the bumper via the screw holes and self-tappers (but be careful as they can crack the bumper plastic, so better to drill a pilot hole) or use a decent double sided tape to hold the plinth in place smile

A set of 17s would do you nicely there. A set of Style 194s if you wanted to keep the M sport theme in the wheels. smile

I've just been in touch with Birds and am in the process of ordering one of their suspension kits to refresh the Birds kit on my car already. This is the last run of springs and dampers they're doing, so I didn't want to get caught out if I snap a spring or ruin a damper. I'll have my dampers re-built by Bilstein UK once they're off of the car, and then keep them as good spares, too.

It's a lot to spend on an old car, but I don't want a new BMW, and the Birds kit is really good.

I had the plinth on the front - I took it off when I got new plates and IMO it looks a ton better without.

Yeah, some like it, some don't smile

I wasn't keen on the plinths on my previous E39s with UK width plates; but I really like it on my touring with the ap spec plate and plinth

I think it works well

Unfortunately all too common these days

RFTs or non-RFTs as that can make a difference too.

That isn't a bad crack though and easily repairable via a decent wheel refurb company. They'll have that welded and fixed in no time smile

I don't mind that, but then it's a square plate. I think the rectangular plinth on the E9x just dates the front end, especially on pre-LCI models.

That's interesting, because I'm in a similar situation - Ihave the birds kit on mine and it was pretty new when I got the car, but I've done north of 40k miles on them now and currently they just look a bit tattier than when they were new but am wary of what to do when they need replacing.... Shame i don't have the case right now otherwise I'd have them setting there ready!

On another note, in personal E91 news, I drove mine for the first time this year yesterday! With lockdown, I've been borrowing my missus dreadful hyundai to pop to the shops for essentials with the state of the roads, but needed to do a longer journey yesterday that warranted the comforts/performance of the N52. I'd almost forgotten just how good and how well/easily it makes progress on the roads, the A14 near me has some 40mph speed limits, childish second gear pull when you hit the national speed limit sign which is on an uphill and it's like you're driving at hyperspeed as you out accelerate everyone in their eco boxes smile

Here to share my new motor. E91 335i. Picked up last night. During all the crappy weather. Not ideal! Got caught on the M54 driving in the snow. Was like driving through hyperspace. Comfy motor. Can’t wait to give it a good drive, last night didn’t have the best roads to drive on.

That look's lovely. I picked up a black one a few weeks ago, sadly someone hit the rear and side whilst it was parked. Off to repairers tomorrow but I am worried they might write it off due to cost to repair.
Would you mind sharing the price you paid and mileage etc via a DM? I am starting to list recently sold ones just in case....

You should be okay for a while, the Birds kit went on my car in 2012, and has since done 100,000 miles. The rear dampers are original, and the front dampers were replaced around 50,000 miles ago when one of the dampers lost its oil. The springs have all done 100,000 miles now, too. I'm sure they won't sell out all that quickly. Stock only came in a couple of weeks ago. smile

Non rft but XL, 60 quid for the weld and ill be honest im not particularly pleased with the quality of the work, it was welded from both sides but someone doesn't have a very steady hand with the grinder!

This was after i tidied it up with a file and applied primer & paint.
