As above, you can pick up an FRM for £30 off eBay (make sure it's an XE, AHL or Max so that it supports xenon) and if you can use NCS expert it's a 5 minute job to code it to your car's factory settings. Shame to break it over something so simple, but I know the feeling if there are other much more expensive jobs needing done.

If you do break it the xenon lights alone are worth £400, let alone whatever your wheels are worth plus anything else of value.

Oh and with regard to the FRM failure, some of them have a bug which means the boot sector gets corrupted after a hard reset (e.g. Battery removal) so it's probably nothing you've done wrong. Seems to afflict mainly the later FRM3 modules, it can be recovered but needs specialist bench gear, can't be done via OBD coding. Generally I'd just buy a new (used) one that doesn't have the bug.

I wouldn't break it for those issues - you will struggle to replace it at the minute for anything that hasn't got similar issues looming around the corner.

And if you do break it - do it yourself. I've been trying to find some pre-LCI xenon's for my car and the money they go for is horrendous. FRM isn't the end of the world, and then deal with the rest as and if they happen smile

FRM is what, the light module? Seems madness to break it for that.

Footwell Module - controls various things.

If you have ten minutes this link is really good at describing how most of the modules within an E90 communicate.

2E77 Firing, voltage supply

Has he got anywhere with it yet?

To be honest, it sounds like he could do with getting it to a decent garage for someone who knows what they’re doing to look at it.

No

And finding someone decent is proving hard work.

Very nice! Almost a twin to my E91 335i manual - same colour and same YF56xxx plate!

That one has been on sale for months – perhaps the mileage and mods (not totally clear what they are?) are putting buyers off? On the face of it looks quite appealing...

EDIT: I think it's just the LSD and remap?

So an auto electrician guy has been round to look at it. Based on the fault code he has decided that the main battery cable in the boot is weak and giving a low voltage. He is ordering a brand new one and then coming back to fit this.

There is some odd use of English in the advert. I wonder if that is putting people off. I’m not convinced it has an lsd.

Wasn’t that for sale recently? It’s a lot of money given it’s on standard original suspension bar Eibach springs. Obviously a good colour!

I think that's a good price for all the work that its had etc...

I's clearly been very well looked after and the N55 engined E91s rarely crop up. Later iDrive system too

The thing that stands out for me (that I'm not a fan of) are the audio system

I don't think that'll be around for long

Any recommendations for centre caps? I fitted ebay ones about 4 years ago and the blue is very faded now.

Are the OEM ones actually any better? (They're considerably more expensive obviously.) I did wonder if ebay ones plus a coat of lacquer or something would age more gracefully.
