I didn't know the LCO one was turd. I've been in a few LCI cars and always had the impression it somehow felt a bit cheaper but could never place my finger on why or how. Just assumed they were shagged examples that hadn't been cared for.
So far we have determined that the start button, heater control panel and the map reading lights (LCI version is missing the lens so you can see the bare bulb, as discovered by Helix) have been "downgraded" in quality in the LCI. The CIC iDrive controller is also plastic compared to the brushed metal of the CCC version, but of course there is significantly more functionality in the CIC controller so I won't swap that one. They also got rid of the haptic feedback that the CCC controller had, although I don't miss that as the software was quite buggy resulting in it sometimes fighting you.

I almost forgot - the cooled drinks holder in the centre console was also removed from the LCI.

I'm not aware of any other obvious areas of LCI downgrades but I'm sure they exist. I'd be interested to hear anyone if any others have been discovered.

I have the drinks cooler but can't say that whenever I've tried it it's made much difference!

Not if you buy an LCI 335i which retains hydraulic steering clap

Yup.

Although I don’t think the EPAS is that bad especially compared to later cars. Each iteration seems to be worse than the last. My wife’s previous 125i cab and my 130i had better steering than my M140i. The steering in the G20 courtesy car I had was utter filth.

Had an interesting one today. Jumped in the car (I had been away for a few days), cabin was fairly warm. Started the car up and the pan roof started to open all by itself! Seemed a nice touch to get the cabin temperature down, but this isn’t normal!
It also happened the other month where it just started to slide open on the motorway, without any input from myself… thoughts? Electrical gremlin, or a dodgy switch perhaps?

I’d go for the latter. That would give me a good shock doing ‘motorway’ speeds and having the roof open! hehe

3) The N/S mirror does not dip in reverse regardless of which side is selected. Adjustment works fine though.
Bit late to the party but try cleaning the connector with some sand paper and a touch of dielectric grease. Worked on mine when the driver's mirror would move with a mind of its own on start up.

bit of a weird one, but I'd try taking the switch apart and cleaning it - the clips holding the unit in are a bit of a pain, but then you can take the whole thing out of the car and gett the giant PCB inside out and clean it up + the contacts.

Yeah I think that’s the best plan, I’ve got some dielectric grease somewhere as well. Thanks chaps.

Has anybody tackled the rear bump stops on their E91 before? I assume it's pretty straight forward but looks like it can be a pain to get the trim off from around the top mount area.

My N/S is detached. Seems it's quite common on these.

Looks like it's part no 33506773628.

Does that seem right for an M-Sport spec 335i?

It’s the same job as rear damper replacement really. There’s a lot of boot trim to strip out. The first time you do it is a real pain. The next time you be much quicker and find short cuts.

At least access is easy in a touring! It’s cramped and horrible in a coupe and was a real pain in the arse in my wife’s old 125i cab.

As above, it's a faff. Good video: https://youtu.be/Dyzh7fQZOUU

I posted about doing mine in this thread some years back, should be findable with a google. I probably wouldn't bother just for the bump stops though. Although f they're worn out, it's likely other bits will be too. (My lower mounts for example came out in bits, but it wasn't obvious they were buggered until I started taking things apart.)

Tbh for what it’s worth I replaced the dampers, top and bottom mounts and the bump stops - you’re taking everything other than the bottom mounts off to get the dampers out.

I did the entire job for about £250 with Sach dampers and OE bump stops

The rear dampers are actually only 5 months old. But bump stop is severed on nearside.

Hi All,
2005 E90 330i developed following codes this morning and is running rough:
29D2 - Combustion misfire, cylinder 6
2E68: knock sensor signal

What should be the course of action to rectify?
