Do 16 inch steels fit on a 325i?
The parts catalogue lists a 16" steel wheel for winter tyres so I'd say yes.
Yes, my 2006 325i came fitted with a set of 16" alloys and winter tyres.

That looks very tidy and spec is decent - I'd say my must-have options are xenons (so that you can see where you're going), nav (so you can easily add CarPlay, which this car already has) and heated seats (to compensate for the fact that leather is a really poor choice of material for car seats!). This car has those three, so I'd be pretty happy with that spec.

The price is at the higher end for a pre-LCI auto, but you have to consider that alongside the relatively low mileage and the work that's been done (particularly the water pump).
Yeah, it’s a nice car. I’d happily have bought it if I’d not bought the E91 that I did last year. It’s been dead reliable for him and scrubs up well when it’s clean.

Just as an aside, while looking at service parts for my car, BMW do a Value Line kit for oil and Microfilter (Inspection 1 as they refer to it).

88 00 2 288 313 is the part number. Seems quite expensive from BMW on eBay, but handy if you're at the dealer for other parts, or have another source of cheaper parts (like Cotswold) available.

If I hadn’t bought the E91 I did last year, I’d have bought this because it’s got proper headlights! laugh
That looks lovely but seems very strong money will be interesting to see what it sells for ( I just sold a lovely F30 330d for £7k euro 6 but was high miles 150k). I know saloons are lower price than estates).

Nice petrol ones seem to command big money still it seems. No bargain basement 335is or nice 330is.

Could be right since it’s still on his drive.

There is often that funny cross over point between the top end of the older models and the lower end of a more modern version. Petrol tourings do seem to carry a premium especially if they have some good options.

Tourings have always been dearer than Saloons.

That's why I bought an E90 330i manual in 2019 with a few less miles for less than half the money!

I’ve finally managed to buy the M3 LCA’s for the 330i, which means I can finish the suspension refresh.

Can anyone recommend me a bushing tool to tackle (some of) the rear bushes? I’m aware that there are sine that are a pig to do with the rear subframe in place, so I’ll probably just ignore them.

330 Update - finally got round to putting it in for the pulleys to be done, on Wed. Had been meaning to for 12mo, after noticing a chirruping noise on startup, and The Man spotted a slight bit of movement in the pulley at startup.

Almost 18years and 136k on these pulleys! They still weren't too bad either - the tensioner a bit noisy, and the idler feels a bit gritty, but the latter in particular was caked in baked on crud on the washer on the back of it.

I need to pull my finger out now and start getting a few bits on order such as the scuttle panel trim and maybe a new rear wiper motor. I should also fit the new roundel that I bought last year on the tailgate!

On the subject of boot roundels, this is the one I fitted less than 2 years ago and to my great annoyance it's started to bubble:

I bought it from BMW's own eBay store so I thought 'hey, let's take advantage of the 2 year warranty on parts'.

However when I messaged them, they told me I had to book a 'warranty inspection' at a dealer before they'd consider replacing it. For a sodding badge! They won't even let me post it back. It's hardly worth the time and money to drive to a dealer, particularly given they might just reject the claim.

bds.

Well that is st. Tempted not to fit it now! Unless there's something I can treat it with to protect it.

Got mine from Cotswold though so am hoping they'd be a bit more sympathetic.

Give it a quick coating of a ceramic sealant, back and front before you fit it... About as good as you can do really...

That's pathetic given the price of them. I'd hope for at least 5 years, if not significantly more.

Given your experience, I'd be happy with a cheap Chinese knock-off badge that is likely to look crap within a year, but you can buy 5 of them for the price of one BMW badge so you could replace it annually and still be much better off. Unfortunately they don't seem to make clones for the E91 tailgate badge which is a unique size not used on any other model.

I am wondering if moisture somehow gets in the back of it via the inside of the tailgate. If I were doing it again I'd consider lathering it on grease, silicone sealant, whale blubber etc.

Yeah; there is a natural gap behind; but I've never seen one corrode like that, that soon either...

I've seen them go white a bit etc

My new boot badge is the same. BMW’s parts warranty is a pain. I bought a bonnet cable. It’s falling apart after less than a year. Same story as yours. “Book it in, pay for inspection, if we decide part is faulty, refund and new part” I just bought a non gen replacement.

Nice stuff on the tensioner and pulley. Those are o es that really will leave you stranded so good to take care of them.

That boot badge is crap, mine looks worse but has been on the car since 2005!

Hi all,

Parking sensors and water ingress...

Rear PDC has stopped working. I did some Googling, and apparently you're supposed to be able to put your ear to the sensors and hear an audible clicking sound. If there's a sensor that isn't clicking - that's supposed to be the faulty one? However, ours seem to be completely dead. No clicking sound, and nothing at all (neither on the screen, or audibly) when you engage reverse. Reverse switch is presumably working because the passenger side mirror still dips, and the reverse lights work.

I then thought maybe I'd look at the module, which sits in a tray above the battery.

That's when I discovered the battery was sitting in about 1 inch of water. So now I have 2 problems to fix smile

I unplugged the PDC module, cleaned the contacts and reconnected, and the sensors then seemed to be working. However, out for a quick test drive, and they stopped again.

I'm think its probably either the module, or a wiring fault. The module did feel slightly damp, although its clearly not been submerged in water (as it sits too high) - but odd also that it started working for a while after I re-seated the connectors. I've ordered a second hand part off eBay, since they're quite cheap. But any other ideas on how to diagnose?

Second issue then is the water ingress. I can see that beside the battery there is some kind of vent with flaps on, which seems to vent to the rear wheel arch. I guess that could be a culprit, with all the rain we've had this winter, and driving through flood water etc. But also, I'm guessing it could be the rear light assembly/seal? Any thoughts on that one?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yep, sounds like the module. The module in my E46 330d died, so I just disconnected it.

For the water ingress, I’d check the rear light seals, vents behind the bumpers, sunroof drains (if fitted), and the rear washer tube if it smells like screenwash.

What I’d also do to check for leaks is strip out the boot carpet, get into the boot and run the hose over it.
