Well if you can do some work yourself it could work out quite well!

Just seen that for the first time, lovely thread, ruddy bargain he has there! Here is some inspiration for you:- https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Front NS arch bubbling a bit but it's otherwise pretty decent (as per the thread). Doesn't owe me much. We'll see how long it lasts for.

This thread has me now wanting one!
What sort of disaster would £1500 to £2000 get?
I think you can get something reasonable. The pampered cars seem to be more like 4-5k but there are cheaper examples about if you don't mind higher miles. What sort of disaster would £1500 to £2000 get?

Cant fault that.Front NS arch bubbling a bit but it's otherwise pretty decent (as per the thread). Doesn't owe me much. We'll see how long it lasts for.
My front arches where getting a bit rust, and the rears bubbling a bit, which was a slight shame but didnt bother me too much. Then one of by ridge tiles decided the storm Doris was too much for it, bosh, rear drivers side back pillar and tailgate!
So with the prompting I took it me tame BMW breakers brother who had a spray shop (mainly tarting up sprinters and the like for export) who did a perfectly reasonable job of pulling out and filling the back pillar, sorting the rear arches, painting and then fitting a pair of pattern front arches, and then giving both sides (front rear wings and doors, pillar and roof strip, doo handles etc, but not the bonnet/roof/bumpers) a blow over with red and then a clear coat, all for..... £600 cash!
If you were a detailer, or inspecting for concourse then you might be able tell, but from 6ft I would challenge anyone to spot any issues. Obviously easier because its flat paint, but a ruddy bargain in my book.

Love my e46 330d, but every month, you can guarantee something needs fixing or replacing.
Last 3 months include, 2 rear tyres, rear brake caliper, pads all round, intercooler hose, CCV filter, Centre prop shaft bearing and last week the rear propshaft to diff CV joint let go spectacularly, leaving me with no drive whatsoever.
Love it to bits but it's now getting annoying, despite being in lovely condition, with virtually no rust whatsoever, waxed twice a month, and lovingly cared for.
My 330d was similar when it got over 140k miles - had to do both propshaft bearings and had the aux belt snap on me on the way home from work. Add in a couple of other small bits, and some knackered glow plugs which meant it gassed the local area when I started it from cold, I moved it on at 165k - although looking at the MOT site, it made it to over 200k until the next owner called it a day. I replaced it with an E82 125i Coupé, which is proving pretty solid now it's on 149k. Last MOT it needed a wheel bearing and that was about it, and only current issue I've got is I've lost a screw from the cowling under the bonnet which the wipers attach to, so it rattles annoyingly around town.
Drive is closer to an E36 than the E46, so a bit more nimble, more fun to chuck around and it hasn't tramlined once in the 95k miles I've driven it. Worth a look though, if you're after an E46 but want something slightly more recent. It was available with an N/A Straight 6 all the way up to 2013 as well, which does the BMW thing of making you grin like an idiot when you start it in the morning.
I've had my 2002 330 ci sport for nearly 16 years. 245k on the clock & 30 stamps in the book. Just had it detailed and looks lovely. Needs another front wing but I treat these as service items each 5 years.
Had it advertised for £1850 but no takers.
Not desperate to sell as I love it to bits.

Dunno, wonder if the owner's on PH?Shows that if you look after and engine it'll look after you.
The inherently weak aspects of the car had been sorted, namely water pump, RCG and preventative work to the arches. Would be worth going through history to find out if other parts of coolant system been replaced (I'd guess yes but worth confirming).
I'd budget for a gearbox service if not already done and I'd bear in mind that if you wanted to keep for a couple years and put the mileage to 260k it won't be as easy to sell vs car with half mileage but that goes for any car.
If I was in the market I'd be going to have a look at it.
Make sure pulls well, engine has no interesting rattles from vanos, no leaks etc.

Far too much money for the miles. I wouldn’t touch the gearbox. They don’t die from old oil. Kettmark said:
Yes it is mine. What's it worth then?! I'm loathed to sell for much less as it's been well maintained and not the usual tat.
I’m not looking to knock your car! I paid a lot less for my current fsh 1 owner 330d Touring with around 120k miles which is why I think the price may be a tad high. However, hope your sale goes well and the car goes to a good home.
Post furlough, work only require me to work from home so my diesel MINI is now no longer needed.
Had a 325ti 6 speed which I ran from 84k - 130k. It was glorious but i always looked at 330 coupes as the non M E46.
I'm mostly interested in a clubsport and not bothered about it being manual or auto. Couple are sitting around £3k with roughly 130k miles on them.
What's a fair price to pay for one that's not rusty, and been well looked after but needs some of the usual E46 work (CCV, VANOS, gearbox oil) done to it?
Thanks in advance and hopefully in a couple of weeks i'll be in this cool area of Pistonheads more frequently.

I'd be surprised if you can pick up a genuine Clubsport for 3k unless it's pretty leggy tbh.Had a 325ti 6 speed which I ran from 84k - 130k. It was glorious but i always looked at 330 coupes as the non M E46.

Saying that, there's one here for 3k but has the rather dubious SSG box. I was never a big fan of the rear spoiler myself.
I think with patience, you can get a decent 330Ci Sport for 3k. I suppose depend on how picky you want to be with spec, HK stereo, xenons, heated seats etc.
