Hi

Does anyone know if the suspension settings (tracking, camber etc) are the same on the M135i as the M140i?

I have a new M140i (890 miles). Local tyre shop's Hunter machine only had M135i settings. The only thing that was materially out was the rear cambers which were beyond their tolerances by about -10 minutes either side. As they were pretty even either side it looks like the factory had set them there (either correctly or incorrectly) rather than they had been knocked out of alignment or the factory had been sloppy in setting the rear camber.

I would imagine the two are the same as there are no (official) mechanical suspension differences between the two models.

Cheers

I doubt the suspension settings are the same.

The only reason i say that is that suspension tends to be updated when LCI's models are launched.

I know the suspension on my LCI 440i is different and newer compared to the pre LCI 435i and 440i.

I have done a google search, including checking those two sites. Couldn't find a definitive answer. So I have asked my dealer to let me know.

I don't think there were any suspension changes from M135i LCI to M140i, which begs the question why change the toe and camber settings then? There may have been changes M135i pre LCI to M135i LCI though. Whereas, as you say, the 3er and 4er LCIs received extensive suspension changes and so it would not be surprising if the toe and camber settings are different.

Looking at the original settings that the car came with from factory and comparing to the M135i settings on the Hunter machine, there doesn't seem to be a big difference in the actual toe and the target M135i toe. For example, the rear toe for the M135i is +9 minutes target +/- 6 minutes and my rear toes were +12 minutes. The target front toe is +7 degrees and my car had +7 right and +12 left. Therefore, you could argue that if the factory has set the car up correctly, the toe angles are probably the same for both cars.

Camber is a different case though as there is a difference of actual front camber to target M135i front camber of about 20 minutes anda difference of 30 minutes for the rear.

I'll wait to see what the dealer can find out. Failing that, I might just put the rear cambers back to what they were - that was the only thing they changed.

Cheers.

The dealer has confirmed that the M135i and M140i have the same suspension (toe and camber) settings. Which means that the rear camber was out from the factory. It is therefore worthwhile checking the tracking even on a new car.
