After washing my wife's 2016 X1 on Sunday I noticed one wheel had four areas of corrosion...

Emailed photos to the DP at Sytner Leicester, where the car was purchased, explaining no external damage.
Service manager has emailed today asking me when I can pop along to have a new wheel fitted under warranty. It will be ready tomorrow.

That's good customer service.

Far too common problem on BMW wheels. 2 wheels on my 4 year old F32 have dreadful corrosion, dealer isn't interested as outside warranty (even though corrosion is supposedly covered for 12 years)

Barons of Hindhead did 3 of mine free. Mine was approved used so not covered but they did it anyway.

It's an issue with all diamond cut wheels.

I’ve just had all four wheels on my 2 1/2 year old X3 replaced free of charge by BMW

Read on another forum ( not sure of accuracy ) that BMW have replaced 20000 sets of alloys !

Not just BMW, just had 2 new wheels on our SLK.

As said above, the problem is diamond cut wheels, of any make.

When you say "did", do you mean replaced rather than refurbished?

Looking at a 4 series with a scuffed wheel a while ago, for my son, BMW Northampton (the servicing dealer) said they would not repair diamond cut alloys and that the only option is to replace with new. It was something to do with the removal of material to re-finish making the wheel sub-standard.

I had a full set replaced on a three-year-old 320d. My problem seems to be different from the photos above, I had bubbling around the rims rather than a creeping stain under the laquer. I will search for a photo and post it here if I find one.

Try and get BMW to replace the famed 225M alloy wheel against cracks. No chance!

I've had to replace 2 so far.
