I appear to have the Old UK Press car and I think it's great. It is pretty loaded the only thing missing is the Adaptive Cruise but everything else appears to have been ticked. Hence I have the adaptive suspension and in comfort it's quite comfortable without being wallowey. In Sport it can be a bit bumpy as in it seems to pitch back to front a bit more than I would like, but it's better into corners and you can have comfort suspension and firm up the steering and throttle. Aside from that Manual box is amongst the best I have had and the cockpit is like a fighter for visibility. Having the ability to have warm feet and cold air from the Vents is nice too!

Excellent, cheers.

Get to test drive it on Saturday, I'm hoping BMW Leicester or Coventry can match it.

I'm trying to do the same with my local dealer. They are close, but not quite there yet.

I'm going fairly option heavy as I'll have it for a while (replacing my M135i LCI that is excellent)

FWIW, the 240 has the proper beam splitting adaptive headlights, definitely worth getting!

On the Noise front it's nice but muted inside. My Son informs me it's better when you are outside!

A dull note about options: I'm pretty sure that 60:40 split folding seats are standard on the 2 series (they were on my 235) - the £175 option for split rear seats just gets you a 40:20:40 split - so save yourself the cash unless you really need to transport 4 people with skis.

The only must have options for me would be the autobox and the HK Audio. I've got lots of other options on mine as it was an ex demo. The voodoo lights are awesome, but If I had paid list price for them then it would work out about £100 for every time I have used them in the last 2 years.

Another note on spec - you shouldn't have to pay for Adaptive and Highbeam Assistant - if you tick adaptive then Highbeam Assistant is ticked for free.

Loving the car in general though, it does everything I want so well that I can't think of anything else I'd rather have instead at the moment.

Sticks.

I had a 235 for almost a year but got rid mainly because of the ride. Not too hard, but very easily unsettled, and seemed to accentuate the bumps rather than absorb them.

Although I included some poor roads in my test, I'd suggest an extended test drive. There was a recent thread about the 140 in GG iirc which talked about the ride a bit.

If you're both likely to use it I'd recommend the electrically adjusted seats too. The manual system is cheap and nasty compared to the Audi.

I found the iDrive frustrating, and a lot of functions use it, so get a good test of that. eg you can't change the screen default too 'off' and there isn't a switch, like my Z4, you have to use one of the pre-select buttons.

The ZF8 is very good, but more suitable for a wafty 7 Series imho. It defaults to top gear too soon, so unless you change modes, overtaking means several changes down. Paddles were a bit clunky imho too, see what you think.

It's not all negatives, it's a very fast car with a lovely engine, although I understand why some people prefer NA. Before I bought mine all the reviews/threads were totally positive and the test I had confirmed them. I just wanted to balance that for you a bit.

I hope you like it smile

Quick question on these - have BMW seen fit to offer Heads Up Display on them yet? Will be looking to upgrade my 125i Coupe this time next year, would rather stick with the 2-Series, but HUD is seriously tempting me to go for a 440i instead...

Well what a bloody amazing car, I've not had anything make me grin like that since my elise.

I can honestly say at 46 I think if I go for one I'd keep it for life.

I also had a Mk.1 Elise 111S - perhaps this is a common thread? In any event, for me, my the M235i is a welcome return to lighter weight, smaller-sized and high power-to-weight RWD car: something that's fun to drive in the right conditions, but isn't too extreme, and can still take passengers or luggage and is happy in traffic. Much like the 325i Touring I had back in the 1980s.

Good effort! I have done around 17,000 miles in the last year in mine with an average of around 29 - lots of motorway stuff. 22 is going it some though, even with some spirited Sport mode driving.

When I had a 140, it was roughly 24mpg in stop start commute, 35 on motorway cruise and 18 on attack mode.

All computer figures rather than brim to brim.

Mix of A roads and M-ways on the way to work and getting about 29-30MPG. I switch it to ECO mode if i am travelling in traffic on the M-ways and A roads to mitigate when I boot it.
