Hey guys,

As said in the title I have changed the front brakes in my f20 BMW the only problem is I can't reset the service notification at first it would attempt it and come up with "reset unsuccessful" now when i do it it just says "reset not possible" with dashes where the milage normally is I've added a picture of the notification. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Did you change the sensor too?

I've seen this before and the only way we got rid of it was using an OBD tool, if you can get hold of one?

I haven't changed the sensor the place I bought the pads from didn't sell sensors which isn't helpful but I've got one now and will change it over tomorrow and see of that helps. I've got an OBD so if that doesn't work I'll give that a go too.
Thanks

Did the OBD work? I don’t think brakes are part of the standard OBD functions so you might need BMW specific software.

You need to replace the sensor and from experience none of the aftermarket items work, buy a genuine one from BMW (about £20)

I've changed the front sensor and still can't reset the service and had a look on the OBD which is a specific BMW OBD tool and still can't reset it. Unfortunately I already bought an aftermarket one before seeing your suggestion but I've also read that the car senses some sort of anomaly with the rear sensor which won't let me reset. Either way the warnings every time I start my car is getting very annoying.

You need a decent diagnostic tool to reset it now. If you had changed the sensor with the pads you could probably have reset it via the dash. The most straightforward diy way to do your reset it to use Carly For BMW dongle and app.

As said before I have a bmw specific obd so what would the Carly one do that mine doesn't? I can't see anything on my one that will reset the service

I don’t know what tool you have. I suspect it does not allow cbs resets, which Carly does.
