435i Remap & Exhaust
Discussion
I've had it for a day now and have had a chance to drive it on some very quiet Welsh country roads as we've come away for a week in a cottage near Nefyn.
I was never happy with the handling and ride on my 435d with it's X-Drive and lack of M-Sport suspension but the 435i with Adaptive Suspension and brilliant petrol engine is SO much better.
It needs something to make that engine a bit more vocal though, what are my exhaust options?
Also, turning 306bhp into circa 380bhp sounds appealing as well as an increase from 300ish to 400ish lb/ft of torque. Worth doing?
Any experience and advice appreciated

You are going to get a wealth of conflicting advice!
AC schnitzner are BMW's official tuning partner and though expensive do not invalidate your warranty. The exhaust sound is good and looks the part. The tuning is a piggy back box so very easy to revert back. Btw there ACS suspension offering apparently further improves adaptive and lowers the car.
There is then a series of favoured indy's. I'm about to use Avon tuning in Bristol - recommended by several people as going above and beyond. Apparently do proper pre-checks and tuning.
I used a Indy exhaust person, infinity exhausts near Bristol that custom made my exhaust. Again highly recommended and by other people as well. There was an Alfa 4C and a 458 having custom made exhaust put on and adjusted for sound as per customer requirements.

Might look at the ACS suspension, if it improves things even more.
I just cannot get over how much better this is with Adaptive and M Sport suspension over my old 435d X-Drive.
I've just found a picture of a 4 series coupe in red with carbon fibre stuff and M Performance Exhaust and it looked incredible.
This could get expensive.

Yes, the standard xdrive m sport iirc does not have sports suspension. When I test drove it, the suspension 'floated' more and didn't particularly corner flat. The adaptive sorted that for me. ACS suspension may go further but I've never felt I've needed firmer suspension. The one time I've had it on track, while not the last word in sport car handling, it been a hoot.
In terms of nailing on tat, carbon is your friend. The BMW 20s good really good as well
(Yes I know it's a F30 but you get the idea...)
Not sure I'm liking the 20" to be honest, I don't think they'd suit the lines of the 4. The carbon also looked better on the 4 series than it does on that. Maybe something to do with the colour?
I'm away at the moment in Wales surrounded by brilliant driving roads. For the first time in a while I went out for a drive just for the sake of it. I don't think I've done that since I had my Z4, maybe a couple of times when the wife let me drive her MINI.
The 435d definitely gets off the line quicker which will be the X-Drive, but once moving the petrol is so much more exciting and seems far faster, just wish it was a bit louder.
I regretted getting rid of the diesel, but loved the Range Rover, now I can't see me ever taking the RR out of choice - may as well sell it and buy a van!
