I’m looking to change my 520d in January when the lease runs out for an M car.

Does anyone have experiences of doing high miles in an M3 or 4?

What are the likely costs for service, tyres, fuel over 25k miles per annum?

I’ll be commuting to my office once per week which is 350 mike round trip on motorways then just mooching around.

Thanks if anyone can provide any help

I've done about 8k in an M3 Comp Pack since new end of July.

You've got running in service at 1200 miles, about £250-350 depending on where you take it. Next service is still showing for about 18,000.

Fuel, it does (according to obc) low 20s on my 10 miles round trip commute, av speed about 10mph.

On a motorway run, 30-35 if you're very steady.

B road caning about 16-18mpg.

On track, 8mpg.

Not used up all the tyres yet, but I doubt they'll go much past 12k miles. I have MPSS on, 20".

Brakes have loads left.

This is all after 1 track day as well. Lots of miles up to Scotland on parts of the NC500 and the Dales/Northern Pennines.

Range is around 200 miles at 19-20mpg, the tank isn't very big, and it prefers super.

I do 34k a year in mine, fuel/tyres/servicing so far has been 28p per mile. My usage profile is similar to yours 420 mile round trip once a week then another 100 miles round town and the odd extra long journey thrown in.

Hey Neil - given that you are serial high miler, and a serial M-car buyer, I would be interested to know how your running costs have worked out over the various models.

I am sure you have a spreadsheet (including the 911...)!

Sorry for going OT...

Pretty much the same Tony apart from the fuel, F80 is much better averaging 28mpg vs the 22-23mpg of the other M3s they'd have been around 33p a mile.

If I cruise on a long run I can get a real world range of 400 miles to a tank with 50 miles to spare.

A spreadsheet would make me cry.....

I think my recent battery change has resulted in an increase in fuel tank capacity...

Showing a remaining range of over 350 miles after travelling 15 miles or so, at 16mpg.

Clever stuff going on somewhere, obviously.
