Even more so if the rumours are true and the car is finishing production in 2020.
Supposedly the focus will be to have electric variants across the BMW range rather than having specific electric models.

Shame in a way as I still think the i8 is a stonking car that’s unique.

Sorry if not clear, I meant the R8 is rumoured at finishing production. The i8 is here to stay with a new 200 mile range one on the way.

Interesting. Looks like the end for both as I also read that the new i8 will be the last from BMW.

Oh that’s not good either. Lovely looking machine.

Shame to hear that your i8 test drive didn't live up to expectations - I have one as my daily driver and think it is fantastic. I have owned a large number of V8s and really enjoy large engined cars, but really enjoy what the i8 has to offer. I'll ping you an email as I may be able to arrange a more representative test drive smile

Sorry to thread hijack but I had assumed the i8 was tax free, Parkers seems to think otherwise - what is the situation?

I realise VED on a Supercar isn't much in the scheme of things but I'm surprised by Parkers figures.

A used one registered before 1st April is free I believe but now they are taxed for being over £40k which is £310 anyway plus it’s not pure electric so may qualify for a bit more.

I'm just coming up to 3 years with mine and I still love it. I use it daily and it gets plugged in every night.

On a single charge and a full tank of fuel (40 litres) I get well over 350 miles per tank roughly at motorway speeds, though with my daily top ups it tends to get 450 miles before filling up.

2 kids seats in the back, I have to move my seat slightly forward but it's not uncomfortable.

The boot is a joke. The steering it a bit light.

From the outside the 3 pot doesn't sound great at idle but it does make an interesting noise on throttle, from the inside it's synthetic but sounds pretty good, especially the throttle blips on down change.

More often than not it's in Eco mode on my commute trundling along.

I'm just starting to ponder what I could possibly move in to as a new daily but tbh I think i might just keep it bit longer smile
