Tyre roar was a problem in my E90 until I swapped out for GY F1 non-RFTs. Now I'm not suggesting that these are the absolute in terms of comfort and noise as I just don't have the 'seat time' experience of many many different brands of tyre, but they were a massive improvement over a set of not-particularly-worn (4-5mm) Continental SSR RFT.

I haven't much recent experience of driving in Europe so I can't make comparisons; I guess it's just a case of trying to minimise the problem for the UK roads. I've been reading a lot of reviews and trying to determine the quietest tyre for the car before I expend £450-650 on a set.
It is difficult and I'm also a bit lazy so I've just stuck with my 19" Bridgestones. What is interesting is that I've got my 18" Dunlop winters on at the moment and the ride and noise is no better and in fact I'd say the handling is worse. I read a lot about people changing tyre brands (and type) and being pleased with the results but given the costs of tyres nowadays I'm reluctant to take a punt!

Winters with sypes and designed for not handling, in noisy and not as nice as average summers shocker smile

I agree on tyre tryouts though, no way to test without buying and committing £500+ and having to like them.

I have S001 RFT in my 335d on 6k miles and can't wait till they're low enough to justify F1 RFT, because I just know anything will be better!

A chap on my street has F30 msport on 19 F1 RFT so tempted to ask for a ride to see how it feels. Hmmm.

How does Park Assist differentiate between parallel parking on the side of the road and reversing into a car parking space?

I tried it yesterday outside home. A obvious space - switched it on by the button, pulled along side and signalled, into reverse and hands off wheel, brakes etc. Car reversed as if it was reversing into a car park space and would have mounted the kerb 90 degrees to the other cars if I had not stopped it.

Now, there is plenty of room, but I assume there is a different procedure for the differing types of parking?
