I imagine fitted with a JB4 things would get rather interesting. Really tempted.
I've got a JB4 on my 4 series. Really impressed with it.

Revs much higher and more freely and definitely pulls much harder. I've only got it on the medium setting.

Do it biggrin

I had Terry's (the guy behind Juicebox) original prototype off him when I had my 335i 10 years or so ago now, it was very tweakable and in the end I was getting 4.5 seconds to 60mph using an AP22 timing meter.

Definitely worth getting one of his units.

All sounds very interesting - drove a precious shape x3 30d msport a while back and found the ride unacceptably hard (big wheels and no adaptive suspension). Must have a drive of a new one. Like the cognac leather... can anyone say if it’s the same colour in real life as photos?

Yeah it is, I edited the pic to get it looking the same.

As long as your monitor is calibrated of course. wink

Thanks - photos of tan leather often look very orange (though some tan leather can be a bit orange)

Shouldn’t think so... smile

Mate just picked up a new X3 with the cognac leather, have to say I really like it.

I like the colour too, but to call it 'Cognac'! I've never seen any (drinkable) cognac looking that colour or anything like it.
I've seen a much darker/redder brown that could passably be called 'cognac', but certainly not this one. Daft.

Same here, we just tested a 20d msport x3 to get a feel for one and it was like riding on bricks.
The ride in the back seats was appalling.

Out of interest, compared to what?

Depends if they are on run flats or not.

I had a previous shape one and it came on 17" non run flats, when I collected it was terrible, so much so I pulled over to check the tyres, they had put on run flats.
I went back to the dealer and they put proper tyres on it, transformed it, it was actually a bit too soft then.
I swapped for 19" wheels with non run flats and that was the perfect balance.

I see more and more manufacturers are using them now as well. I took out a new C Class and thought it was just over damped and hated it, found out 6 months later they are on run flats.
Stopped me buying the car.

I spent ages and ages sorting out the best Runflat via google searching Forums etc. After 3 years of Michelen PS3's on my 330d(3 weeks of suffering the originals runflats) I risked going back to Run Flats. Goodyear Eagle Assymetric 3 have to say with these I wouldn't bother going back ,really good.

Of course you have to take pot luck on which tyres a new car will run on you cannot specify.I asked.

It was on a par with a Fiesta ST or my E85 Z4, but with shoddy seats which gave no lateral support, so you had lateral slide/jiggling too.

I wouldn’t have one if someone gave it to me.

The 335xd was like a limo in comparison, but even that is noticeably harsher in the back than the front.

I put it down to super high spring rates so if you tow a trailer and fully load it up, it doesn’t sit really low.

In an ideal world you’d have air suspension I suppose... as the Disco and RR I’ve been in are like silk while lightly loaded or towing.

If BMW have got this new M40i X3 ‘right’ then they’re onto a winner, as it was the ride that put me right off the concept of an X3 (X5 seem better but they’re quite big and more expensive)

You see that confuses me somewhat - i had a nearly new X5 40d SE courtesy car for a couple of weeks back in March which was on 19" runflats and had the adaptive dampers (standard on that model i believe).

Both new X3's i have driven recently dealt better with lumps, bumps, potholes and so on than that X5. One of those was the 30d Msport with 21's and non-adaptive, the other was an M40i on 21's with adaptive.

I also found both X3's quite a bit quieter on the move, particularly with respect to wind and tyre noise.

Admittedly i didn't sit in the back in any of the above cars on the move.

My current 340i touring (on 19" non-runflats and with adaptive dampers) rides similarly to the X5 above and not as well as either of the X3's. Significantly louder than all of the above too, especially at motorway speeds.

Saw a friend of mine at the weekend - his next car will be an M40i. Unfortunately I'm not insured to drive it frown

Interesting......

I've now got a F15 X5 4.0d SE with the adaptive dampers, rear air-suspension etc., and dynamic handling pack (active ARB's etc) running on 19" RFT Pirelli Scorpion all-seasons, and it's far from perfect. Too bouncy in comfort and too stiff in Sport, so interesting to hear that the new ally platform X3 is an improvement in the ride comfort dept.
A X40i would be fabulous and make me feel like I've got my N55 135i back in the sounds dept., but I think I would mean the frugalness of the soot-chucker too much now, as I average 31mpg around town in the X5 which is staggering for such a vast beast....but 630Nm of torque does make me giggle still biggrin
Something smaller though will be necessary next though.......X3 will be a strong candidate.....although I might miss the build quality of the X5 which I'm very impressed with after the 135i and all the niggles I had with that in 6 years.
