A BMW warranty is nit something I had considered but worth investigating, I'll have a word with my local dealers see what the coat would be.

Golf Tee mod, done, the day after I picked it up.

Along with a really good clean of the exhaust tips.

Just stick your details in here:

https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Start
And note the questions they ask you before providing a price. I'm not sure how "comprehensive" that warranty is if you take in a modified car with issues.

While I understand the Cobb is no longer supported I don't see what problems that can cause, I'm really not interested in squeezing every last hp from the engine, I'm limited by the flow of the stock turbos, which I have no appetite in upgrading (unless the die) so other than increasing the boost, fuelling and timing adjustments to suit I want no more from any remap.

I may look at a inlet pipe replacement and larger intercooler further down the line, more for reliability than power, from what I've read the expensive 7" intercoolers only net a hand full of additional hp and that's in far hotter climates than here in blighty a reduction in pressure drop is probably more of a benefit to us than reduction in inlet temperatures.

I can absolutely see the benefits of the monitoring side of MHD but from what I can see, the Torque App I have covers most of the parameters the MHD could log, for the limited mileage the car will be doing annually, 2-3k I feel the Cobb will suffice for a while.

One thing you may be able to tell me is the cost of the MHD maps?, a good K+Dcan cable is £50 give or take, but I cannot see what the individual maps cost on top of this cost.

The MHD maps are far more developed, smoother and makes more power. It's dirt cheap too. There's also loads of things you can change like idle rpm, exhaust burble, wastegate rattle fix etc. The flasher module is 70 odd quid and the maps package is £35. And a Dcan cable is less than £20 from ebay.

From other forums members experiences, as long as the modification isn't linked to a warranty claim then it's okay (eg warranty claim for Turbos and you have lowered and aftermarket wheels)

Mine has different wheels, grills, splitters, spoiler and air filters and I've had loads done on the warranty.

Obviously. Similarly BMW didn't care about my brake pads when they replaced the DVD for the Nav. They even paid out on non-BMW part related issues because they sold me an AUC on H&R springs.

Of your list I think only the air filter could be challenged. However, try making a driveline claim if you've mapped the engine to 400 brake - I think that could get them twitchy.

Wasn't an issue when I had the turbos done last year (Bill ~£3.5k)

On a modified car? Fair play. I think they're within their rights to reject that. You've had a good result.

Me too, had replacement turbos and a load of other engine parts (HPFP, LPFP, 6 injectors + spark plugs to name a few) and they were well aware of the modifications. I had the BMW dealership over a very large barrel with an unrelated story though, if they didn't change them they'd be in a whole lot of trouble!

My tracking is spot on and suspension is fine. I never used to get the traction control step in at motorway speeds before I had the custom map done so maybe it's just providing extra grunt.
Something's wrong for sure. Only have the traction kick in at top of first gear and maybe 2nd.

Well mine doesn't behave like that. Either theres a problem with the car or your map is crap.

Surely its tyres that is the problem here? Having driven an M4 hard on Michelin PS4S tyres, I know the traction they generate is phenomenal (420hp & 410lb/ft), albeit a wider tyre. In comparison, the older PSS really struggled at times.

The regular PS4 work wonders on my 335i (no mods), no traction or grip issues at all. The old PS2 run flats were much more prone to spinning.

So what tyres are we talking about here? How old and in what condition?

Not sure how many of you frequent the other threads but the scope of the recall has increased and it may be worth checking if your car is included.

Nope and nope. My car has been tuned by the same guy that mapped the most powerful N54 in the world so there is nothing wrong with my map. Anyway, how is a 'crap' map going to make me lose traction? Isn't it supposed to work the other way around? LOL

I think you want to have a word with your mapper as he clearly didn't do a very good job. laugh
