Hi All,
Ref one of my previous posts, has anyone else had calls from Enterprise regarding lack of payment from BMW?
"My plot got even more interesting on Friday, I had enterprise calling me up saying "BMW haven't been paying their bills and haven't been extending the hire periods on these cars". Enterprise want customers to start phoning back BMW to encourage them to pay up!
The best bit... worst case scenario, Enterprise will start charging me (and others no doubt) for the hire and I'll have to recover that from BMW."
Thanks.

Enterprise hasn't contacted me about BMW not paying the invoices - in fact they confirmed last week that the hire will be automatically renewed until they're told otherwise by BMW.Ref one of my previous posts, has anyone else had calls from Enterprise regarding lack of payment from BMW?

Hi, first post on here but not a great one! Just had my 2016 320d ED Sport impounded by the local dealer. It had been booked in for the 5th Jan. but was off the road due to a Turkish 42 tonner wanting to be in the same lane as me at Dartford.. Anyway, the dealership knew then it needed doing but it seems that the parts can only be ordered once the car is in the dealership. So - here's a question for the Management at BMW UK who clearly knew this was going to need doing. Do we (a) look at the cars affected, notify the people and get the EGR Valves in stock so they can be fixed quickly, and take the 'hit' on the stock value sitting on the shelf for a few weeks, or (b) Do we get the customers car in, then say we can't do anything about ordering a part until it is in the garage (strange how you can do a recall notice in that case...), keep the car impounded for umpteen weeks, pay a rental company a shed load of money for replacement hire cars and completely p*%% the customer off to the point where they will take their business elsewhere? Seems Option (b) was the clear winner here people. I am now the proud owner of a Vauxhall Insignia (after refusing to have a Nissan Micra) and completion of the work "should be in 2 or 3 weeks time hopefully".
Using MOT check on the X5 today and it showed that there is a recall for it, but won't show what it is. Struggling to see anything on the list of recalls that DVSA have either. Interestingly enough, the recall is as of today.
The X5 is an August 08 built (2009 registered) 3.0sd with the M57D30TUTOP engine, I assumed this recall was with the N57 but could it have extended to the older diesels too?

After my wife's 116d was impounded 2 weeks ago. i checked my 2007 X5 (June build) and saw the same info as you, it needing to be recalled but without any explanation. Although I'm loathed to ask the dealer about it until we get the 116 back, i don't fancy having 2 hire cars. One Vauxhall Grandland X 1.2 is enough for anyone, even if it does have 'Turbo' on the boot lid.

Regarding the X5, the local Williams helpfully didn't answer the phone, they must be drowning in a mixture of enterprise rentals, Coolant and EGRs. I have a strong feeling that it is the EGR recall, and that they have extended it to the older M57 engines as well. I very much doubt that BMW re-engineered the EGR when switching from the N57 to the M57, matter of fact they were both being produced in 2010, according to Wikipedia. They likely slapped the EGR on, without recycling, but I will check realOEM to see if that's the case.
If it is the EGR however, I genuinely can not be bothered. There are reports of owners having repairs last 2 months.

Have they gave you a timescale on the 116d? My 535 is in at the minute nearly 3 weeks in amd no news so far but I've got to take the wife's 116d in next week.
No, just a text this week to say they are still awaiting parts for it. My father in laws neighbour lost his 535d for 3 weeks, so I'd use that as a fair guide to amount of time you'd lose itrayyan171 said:
Those Vauxhalls must be rapid, the 'Turbo' badge must give 100hp extra.

Following up from this, it is the air conditioning heater element and not the EGR. I guess its good but next available dates with courtesy car is around mid April. I’ve been looking at cars and found a nice 335d at Stratstone Derby which seems to fit the bill. Been to see it, drive ok but the recall is outstanding. I’ve been asking questions about it and the salesman is now ignoring me!
One would have thought that they’d try to sort cars they were selling. The whole thing does seem like a circus with the 6 cylinder cars facing much worse delays. The site at Derby was littered with customer cars waiting for the recall work to be done.

I'm still concerned about my car - it was recovered, went in, given the all clear.
So now the recall notice has gone on my car and I've been told that's it - its fine. They checked for leaks. None there.
Whilst this is good news I don't particularly understand how this works. Presumably the leak isn't present from the factory therefore just because it isn't leaking now doesn't mean it won't in the future, surely?
if it was purely a part number thing then why would they have needed to physically inspect it for leaks?

Ah that's a shame they haven't tidied it up first. Typical sales slimeball giving you the cold shoulder now you've caught him out!I’ve been looking at cars and found a nice 335d at Stratstone Derby which seems to fit the bill. Sadly, I would avoid if the recall is outstanding. My 330d been in since 19th December and dealer has absolutely no idea when I'll get it back

I agree it is not good to be selling a car due a recall but it’s a bit unfortunate you feel the need to refer to sales staff you have never met in a derogatory way. Have you ever considered the salesman have no control of the stock management?Sadly, I would avoid if the recall is outstanding. And for the record, I am not a car salesman or work in a dealership and hopefully I have a career that you will not feel the need to try and ridicule.

I'm still tempted by it - its pretty much the spec I'm after other than the HK stereo and was in good condition and drove well enough. One would have hoped that the EGR would have been checked for leaks prior to it being listed, but we'll have to see.Sadly, I would avoid if the recall is outstanding. Although, I'm still waiting for them to give me a call back to talk figures or even just respond to my email!

I have considered that yes, which is definitely the most likely explanation. What isn't very courteous is the fact that the salesman has starting ignoring the customer since a tricky situation has come to light. That, you could call out as a slippery salesman, which sadly a vast amount of them are.And for the record, I am not a car salesman or work in a dealership and hopefully I have a career that you will not feel the need to try and ridicule.
I do know a fair bunch that are not however, so I do apologise for my generalisation to those ones

No the leak is not. It essentially is because the coolant gets into the inlet manifold rather than just cooling the egr gases. So now the recall notice has gone on my car and I've been told that's it - its fine. They checked for leaks. None there.

Even cars outside the recall periods have failed so there is not real date of you will be fine.
Now following with interest.
I paid a deposit on an AUC 535 yesterday. Supposed to be picking up on Saturday.
Only to be told today that it needs the EGR replacing. Quite why they didn't do it before putting it up for sale I don't know.
Must say I'm rather annoyed. First world problems.....
