Neither the dealer nor bmw uk have the faintest idea how much longer they’ll keep my car or my wife’s that’s due in for the check in April. Incredulous. Final nail in the coffin of bmw ownership. Not reliable enough for me.

from memory...

Rear springs x 6
Lambada sensor x 3
Sat Nav
Crankshaft sensor x 1
EGR valve
Parking sensor
central brake light x 2
Wiper motor x 1

mainly crap sensors - as i said not reliable and not good enough. Consequently i have two of my 3 beemers on warranty; £100pm.

That's a reasonable list, and dealer prices for that lot would be a pretty penny. Completely understand your statement now.

They had my F11 15 plate on Wednesday had a message from them on Friday to say parts on back order will be in touch when it’s done.

I got a Renault Kadjar which is crap, also Enterprise hit you with the £1000 insurance excess of a thousand pounds which is £12 per day for the first 10 days. They said I will have an invoice which I can and I will present to BMW for payment.

Not that I'm going to defend BMW too vigorously but to put more perspective on all the failures you've listed - how many cars over how many years/miles?

That's certainly some list of failures. I'm pretty fed up about the EGR business but in BMW's defence I've had BMWs since 2003 and averaged 18k miles p.a. and the EGR failure is the first thing I've had go wrong with any of them apart from the wipers failing on my first BMW at 80k miles. And a front parking sensor on my current car failed but it had obviously been hit by a stone (it had a dent in it) but BMW kindly replaced it under warranty.

My F25 is my 3rd BMW, and the first I've bought with less than 100k/10years on.

I took my E30 to 225k/23years before it succumbed to terminal rot. Apart from the rot, it had no issues in 9 years of ownership that could have been attributed to BMW.

The E46 that replaced the E30 had the airbag recalls. Apart from that, same as the E30.

I've only had the F25 6 months............

Hyundai Tucson. Quite probably the worst car i have driven since an Austin Princess in the ’80’s
Pretty average aren't they?

I got my 6 series back today after 5 weeks in a Tucson from Enterprise... got to be the slowest thing I've driven since my 1993 Corsa 1.2. Inside it wasn't too bad a place to sit, but so slow that lorries were accelerating away from me!

My 2014 330d was declared dangerous when it went in for the recall last week and impounded - but BMW are paying for me to have a 320d M Sport from Enterprise while waiting for a part. Interestingly, the coolant level warning light had come on the previous morning, although I could see plenty of coolant in the header and the warning did not reappear when I restarted the engine.
This is identical to what has happened with our 2015 330D. BMW have had it a month now after they ascertained it did not have one of the definitely faulty parts but had failed the pressure test that they also have to complete.

I've had mine from new and it's under the BMW insured warranty and emergency service - I don't know if that makes a difference? I noticed that the hire agreement was only for a week and phoned up the dealer and Enterprise to check the day before it expired and was told that BMW would continue to keep renewing for as long as necessary.
Similarly, this is the same for us too, so makes sense.
Ours is done after 7 weeks and I'll be collecting it tomorrow (Synter Sheffield). Silver lining is the 3000 miles on someone else's tyres and at a higher mpg!

Stratstone will just want the car off their pitch. They will do the bare minimum work and spend as little time on the car as they can get away with. The recall will be the responsibility of the new owner. The last car I looked at on a Stratstone lot was in a disgusting state. When I queried why the car was being offered in such condition I was told by the salesman "We don't touch it until we have a sale agreed". I walked away and bought a far better condition, better spec'd, same MY, example of the same model - but with slightly higher mileage - from an independent just up the road, for less money than Stratstone were asking and point-blank refusing to budge on.

I binned the 335d off in the end. I liked it but not enough to potentially buy it and then be told I can’t take it away due to a faulty EGR. I’ve ordered an M140 instead.

Thats enough to put most off any marque , sadly owners I have found that have purchased BMW car model from the last 10 years or more go from happy to sad quite quickly frown I have had 2 customers of late glad to get rid rolleyes an E93 the other an E70 now that was a PITA and 2013 , cant blame them really the list of unrelated failures was endless and neither were poor examples, the owners said they are coming back to BMW products again smash really ticked off

All manufacturers get issues from time to time, impossible not to as they are really car assemblers with most of the components being 3rd party supplied.

I'm on my 11th BMW in 15 years and haven't had a major issue yet.

Seems the parts are coming in now, I just had a call to say my new EGR and cooler (the 330d one) are in and will be fitted (Marshall, Hook) tomorrow. It was ordered 5 weeks ago. The best news I have had all week, to get rid of the truly horrendous Renault Captur (or Captive as we have been calling it) that my wife has been using (as I have nicked her GTI)..

Well I am on the tools for my occupation and I see more BMW followed by VAG vehicles for issues more than any other brands inc GM & Ford which is surprising and not how things once were frown my daily for the last 4 years is a BMW but late models you can keep sadly scratchchin

On that basis only another 2 weeks then! I must remind them about the MOT that is about to expire - I did ask them to do it while they had it and made sure they made a note on the worksheet - but best to check!

Picked up my wife's 116d ED last night after it being away for just under 5 weeks, was glad to give the Grandland X back if i'm honest.Although we did stick 2,500 miles on it in that time.
