They've just been on the 'phone. "Mr.Stu, the car needs 4 new tyres"...............

Does it hell! frown Firstly, I measured them myself less than 2 weeks ago. They are all a long way from being illegal, just shy of 5mm and all worn evenly.

Secondly, they are winter tyres. They will be coming off in a few weeks, anyway. You're a BMW dealership, you should know this.

Oh, wait! It's the end of the month, isn't it? rolleyes
So, when I collected the car, I asked about the tyres. "They aren't BMW approved"! In fact, the invoice for the EGR replacement has on it "NONE STAR MARKED TYRES FITTED". Fact is, they are star marked. However, the service advisor takes the "technician"'s word for it, and in spite of the tyres having a minimum of 4.5mm recorded on the job sheet I "need 4 new tyres" because, according to the technician, they "aren't the correct tyres". Bear in mind this is a 7+ year old car, with 89k miles, on its 3rd owner, that (EGR recalls aside...) has been out of the dealer network for 2 over years. I'll admit that my summer tyres aren't * marked, but I'm really not bothered. Neither should BMW be as the car is years out of warranty.

If the "technician" can't see the * marking on all 4 tyres, I fear for the quality of work that has been carried-out. frown Is it any wonder people don't hold much faith in dealerships??

Hi, new on here. Just wanted to post about my 335d 2017 N57 engine. It has just done 40k miles and broken down with no warning lights. Purchased from bmw main dealer. Had no issues with car until day it broke down. Symptoms on day was low power, juddering and rough on idling. After car being recovered to main dealer I’ve been informed that engine has completely failed. Melted intake manifold and swirl flaps, cylinder 5 damaged. It has had two EGR changes first at 18k miles and last changed at 37k miles.
Found out code IP166 was logged at 17k miles from previous owner along with a cylinder misfire.
This has come completely out of nowhere and I strongly
Believe it is due to EGR coolant leak. Does anyone know what checks on engine would have been done during EGR change? as a health check was supposedly done on car at last EGR change by main dealer i don’t believe any proper checks have been done.
