F01 7 Series - Software and Nav Updates

Morning all.
Having recently bought one of these it's clear it's never had a nav update or software update that i can see. Haven't got the version numbers handy but can get them later.
Anyway are these CD's that i see on eBay any good for the navigation? It will be booked in for a general health check soon where i'll query the software version but i've read that the risk of damaging a module or something along the way if possible? Anyone got experience of this?

Check on BMW's site where it will tell you what the latest version is etc. For my 62 plate 520 it was a download of the software and a key (code) to input. I bought off an authorised re-seller as saved about £10 compared to BMW direct. Think I paid about £60 and it took an hour to upload and a few days to settle completely
