Got mine through the other day for a 2001 e39 530d touring - same day they old girl made it through her MOT spin

Anybody stopped daily usage until the recall was completed? Seems the risk is more likely for certain climates (hot and humid) but worth doing?

Been in for the recall - the airbag fitted was not on the naughty list so nothing done!

Nice to know that for the past <mumble> years it's not been threatening to explode in my face after all!

So ... now down to painting all the rusty bits with Kurust to help slow down the rot ... anybody know if Kurust is safe if it goes on the paintwork or will it strip it?

It won't strip it, but can discolour it if left on, just wipe it off if you get it on the paint.

Have a look at the Bilt Hamber anti rust products (deox gel and Hydrate 80), much more effective than Kurust IME.

All 3 of my E39s had the airbag recall & all replaced

It’s a necessity as the airbags fitted were dangerous & involved in a few deaths unfortunately.

Plenty of info out there, do your research
st, I better get on with that recall!
Had my recall letter through recently. My car is 19 years old. I'm confident I won't experience a problem in the next few months, so I will get around to having it done....

Yep, got my recall letter a few weeks ago as well, 2001 530i T (in the best colour, Slate Green - as above).

When I tried the website nothing happened, once I selected the dealer the options all dissapeared. Will have to give HR Owen Park Royal a call I suppose...

I've just tried and it's done exactly the same thing, the website is broken.

If any PHers want some black grilles for a facelift, let me know. I had no takers on the FB groups. Was asking £15 but this seemed to be too much.

Drop me a PM. They will be cheap

Any opinions on these lenses? I haven't dropped the vendor a message but I can't see how they'd fix

You'd have to take your headlights to bits. Early ones are glued together with a glue that softens at high temp then they can be prized apart. Late ones (about 2002>) used a different type of glue and can't (easily) be split.

The new lenses would attach with a combination of glue and clips moulded into the plastic.

Bugger! I've got the "3 dash lights from hell".
I know can send off the electronic section of the pump to get renewed, but does anyone know if I could get a spare, known working, complete pump (same year of manufacture) coded to the car?
TIA.

Hi - I got a spare abs module off a 2000M5. I never fitted/coded it, and went for a new one.

Bit of an update with my 525i Sport, I have changed all 8 suspension arms, ARB drop links and bushes front and rear and changed the wheels for some M-Para's:

Rich, apologies for the tardy reply ... 'only seeing this now! Thanks anyway.

I sent the module off for repair, but, regrettably, it was not able to be rectified - I only got to speak with a sales person, not technical, so I don't know why, exactly.

I have a "spares" 2001 e39, so I have the bits I need, but just wondered about getting another one coded. The CV malarkey put paid to finding out about the coding, but, due to the MoT extensions, I didn't have to worry too much.

I suspect that, shortly, I'll be able to find out.

How much was a new module?

Into 4 Figures, I'm guessing.

Back when I had my E39 a genuine module was about £600. Luckily mine could be recoded, I think I paid circa £150.
