I've got a 2016 X3 3.0D X Line with non VDC suspension.

The dreaded hard as rocks Dunlop RFT's are coming to the end of their life, any recommendation on tyres to replace them which are quiet and good in the wet?

What size wheels and tyres?

I'd suggest sticking to star marked tyres (*) if you are running a staggered fitment as some people have had issues with x-drive when running non-star-marked tyres.

If you're running 4 identical wheels and tyres then the star marking is less of an issue.

All 4 corners are 245/50/18.

I'm looking at Hankook K415's as my local dealers have them at a good price.

This seems only a problem with older Xdrive BMW's.

My dealer also had non * tyres that they were selling for our X3. Doubt they would sell non * tyres if there was an issue with xdrive.

£100 per corner which seems a good deal.

Camskill have them at £106.50 per corner (plus delivery and fitting!) so i'd say you're getting a great deal smile

I'm also running Dunlops on my X-line f25 with the same size tyres, do not have sport suspension on it and to be honest it's not bad...BUT would quite like the next ones to be a little softer, have read that the Pirelli's are better! happy to be told different.

The Hankooks were the wrong load rating so decided on Kumho PS71's which were a bit cheaper still. Will have them fitted tomorrow morning.

Personally I was close to shifting the car on the ride was so bad and the tramlining so tedious, hope it's the tyres otherwise the car will be going for something softer and equipped with adaptive air suspension.

Very surprised by that. I assume the Hankook had a load rating of 100? If so, that is the same as the OE tyre.

Our X3 is an M Sport with adative dampers and is definetly not as harsh as you seem to suggest. We have a 6 months baby and we have never found it uncomfortable.

I dumped the Pirelli RFT,s on my x3 35d Msport for michelin pilot sports on 20" rims, have the star but not RFT,s. Was a little unsure at first due to a little road noise but seems to have sorted itself or I have got use to it. Much better low speed ride though so going to go same again when the time comes.

Kumho PS71 fitted at 32psi and some miles done. The ride and tram lining is *much* better. It may have been due the tyres being over 50% worn when I first got them so I don't have a fresh RFT comparison to make however it's immediately a much more relaxing drive.

Not had a chance to throw it around some corners yet but I'm fairly sure I had some Kumho's on an old 130i which were impressive with regards to cornering.
