My z4 coupe is going to need new tyres soon, the fronts are starting to crack. When I last changed them I went from the terrible original Bridgestone runflats to Vredestein non runflat tyres, however after recently getting a puncture I'm thinking of going back to runflat tyres. Are any brands/models recommended above others? I've got Goodyear eagle f1 runflats on my 5 series and they seem good to me and I'd happily go for them but they aren't available in the correct sizes for the z4. What about Michelin Pilot sport 3's? Seem to be well regarded in non runflat format, but can't find much in the way of reviews for the runflat versions.

So far I've tried 4 - 18" Bridgestone RE050 (diabolical) and Pirelli P Zero (by far the best of the three) and 19" Bridgestone S001 (great until the tread reaches ~3mm then grip falls off a cliff) and Goodyear Eagle F1 (on the car now and really happy with them).

Hi...I went back to run flats with great trepidation as I thought I was handing the car back in a few months time in the end I refinanced. The run flats on the car when I bought it new had been so crashy and howling on motorways that I got rid after 3 weeks I do a lot of miles.Cant remember what they were Contis or Bridgestones

So I did a ton of googling looking at forums and tests and come up with the Goodyear F1s assymetric 3s and they are so good I would not bother going back to normal.

However like the above poster my second choice was Pirelli P zeros and the service manager at my BMW dealers has those on his car and really likes them

I have Pirelli P zeros on 19” runflats. They are fine until I go to the South of England, then the stty roads demand high sidewalls!

I'm on my 2nd Z4 Coupe with 18" Bridgestone RFTs and they are horrible!

My 123d had 17" Pirelli run-flats, my E91 had 17" Pirelli RFTs and my current 330i has 17" Continental RFTs.

I like the Pirellis the best, and Bridgestones the least! They really are cr*p. laugh

I think it was the bridgestone re050 that I had originally, even though it was 2011 that I changed them I still remember how poor they were. I'd happily go for the Goodyears but alas they aren't available in the correct sizes. I'll have a look at the pirelli's and see if they are available.

I wish the ContiSeal tyres were available in the sizes I need - seems like the best compromise.

I don't suppose anybody has a pair of used 255/30 x 19 run flats, ideally bridgestone but not fussy, my Son's Z4 goes back on it's lease in a couple of weeks and the current rears are not run flats. Only need to be legal thumbup

Most towns have shops that sell part worn tyres. Might have to do a bit of calling but worth it? Also eBay?

You could have a look on a forum or two - z4forum often has used run-flats for sale when people swap them for non-runflats. thumbup

I have Bridgestone RE050 RFT's all round on my 08 330d Touring. Have to say I've had no problems with them in the 2.5 years and 25k miles Ive had the car. It had a half worn set on it when purchased, I changed the rears 6 months in and the fronts 18 months in.

My brother had a slightly newer 320 and both the Michelins and Goodyear Eagle run flats were much noisier. Or is it a performance thing?

I have recently had to replace the two rears again though as I had a rear lower control arm bush fail badly and it ruined the tyres.
