cheers - torn between an M340 or C43 - the thing puuting me off the C43 is that a new model is due out next year

The C43 is a pretty old car now, plus the pricing seems to be totally inconsistent. Also, my local MB dealer is terrible.
I really like the C43 but you're paying more for less IMO.

can anyone confirm how good the adaptive lights are on the base model. I have the upgraded light package on my S4 and its very useful as i have a mounatin pass to use every time i come home from work. Best lights i have ever come across -you can leave them in effect on full beam and the audi cuts off parts of the various beams to prevent dazzle.

I have adaptive lights on my M135 - i assume the ones on the m340 are the same

also looking at some earlier posts and some lease examples the standard spec list on some lease models states parking assist , cameras and adaptive suspension - is that all part of the base model or are these all extras.

also is android auto now available on even early M340i models as will be going used rather than new

Given the next gen of C63 is allegedly going to be a 4 cylinder, it's highly likely the C43 will be 4 cylinders too. Worth waiting for?!

I have the standard adaptive LED headlights (i.e. not the laser lights). I think adaptive refers to the fact they turn, but they don't have high beam assist as standard. However, you can add that for low cost from the BMW connected store. HBA works very well (but it is just off and on full beam) and the LED lights are more than good enough for me, but then I've never had anything more fancy than that in previous cars so don't know what I'm missing.

I could be wrong but I think combining HBA with the standard LED's gives the selective beam function as well as on/off for main beam?

Don't think it includes the selective beam, just flips the high beam on or off.

On my new F40 the HBA works differently from my previous 340i .

The HB is on permanently when activated and deflects the beam to oncoming traffic and only in built up lighted areas , it then resorts to LB.

When i was shopping for my current car i had a look at the glc63s and also had a look at the glc43 and the interior on them was pretty poor a lot of cheap plastic. I know taste is subjective but for cars of that price point i was very unimpressed.

what is the standard speakers like these days on BMW vehicles. I had a M135 and the audio quality was dreadful. I had the audio package on my audi(bang and olufsen) and that is brilliant. are the speakers on the m340 any better than the standard ones that came with the M135 (13 plate)

also on the base model do you get adaptive cruise control or any parking assists ie cameras etc

In short, terrible. I had the M135i LCI with the standard speakers and they were bad. My mate has a 320d with HK and it is louder and a bit better but still poor. I have the HK in my 540i and that is better than the version in the previous 3 series but it's definitely not going to please an audiophile. It is acceptable though. I've not heard the B&W setup but presume it will be better still.

For the UK spec, does comfort access include the automatic locking and unlocking? i.e. without need to touch the handle for the unlock action?

I don't know, I haven't launched or timed but the car is much more than the 0-60 irrelevance, perhaps good for pub talk, ah, the pub, remember those...

The power and torque is relentless above 3k revs, there are only a few spots on the road where you can use some of the potential. Straight line assessment also does not inform or this cars ability for road holding, it's excellent.

The consensus seems to be that they're probably putting out a fair chunks more power than quoted. I would reckon the official figures are a little pessimistic, as they have been for a variety of other recent BMWs (I think Evo had the previous F80 M3 consistently pulling 0.2/0.3s faster than the quoted time).

Follow up question... What if you've left any windows down? Do they close like you can with comfort access and holding the top of the handle? I'm guessing not.

Agreed, the 0-60 is pretty irrelevant. I'd be surprised if they do 3.8 to 60, most reviews suggest a time of around 4.5 to 60 which would be about right if they are putting out about 400bhp as standard, they are not especially light at 1700kg. Once moving it is rapid on the rare occasions you actually get to use the power!

I think the m340i has the "advanced speakers" as standard, and HK comes with the tech pack that almost all of them have. I had the advanced on my previous m240i which was ok, and now have HK on my m340i. It's reasonable but certainly does not blow me away.

M440i vs M4. Not quite a sientific comparison as the tyres on the M440i are run flats. I expect the M340i would be similar in performance to the M440i, they need decent tyres though, I also have AC springs so minimal roll.

Quoted 0-60 in the above vid and Carwow seem to indicate 4secs, the M4 official is 3.8 however in the above vid, during the 3 drag runs, the M440i reaches 60 before the M4.

Through the corners the M4 should pull ahead but tyres and driver make a difference and on UK roads, no difference between the 2 cars, perhaps.

The S4, new or used? Look at the Carwow vid between M340i and S4.
