With the price differential at 40p a litre now (plus higher diesel maintenance costs) it'd be interesting to see where the breakeven point is these days.

I never thought about it when I've bought cars recently - I only do 10 000 miles, so it's petrol no brainer for me.

Fuel cost differential isn't anywhere near 40p a litre though? 169.9 ppl vs 152.9 ppl locally
With the cost of coil packs for petrol engines these days I'd be amazed if diesel servicing costs are truly higher. My 530d was £400 for the last service at an independent and most of that was 'fluids' costs

My Dad is 75 and considering an LCI 340i touring. Any idea on what the current wait times are for a factory order?

I was quoted 6-9 months for a 340xdrive saloon.

Tony Lewis told me they’re sold out for 5 months on the M340i.

540i touring available sooner and for less money.

£5k down, £600 a month for 47 months then £24k or hand it back. I didn’t think that too bad (4.9%) but they need a bit of spec which would make it £700 a month. Then first year road fund etc and it gets a bit chewy. That was for 8k a year. 3-4 month delivery

Thanks. He currently has a 2017 540i and we were surprised to see the 540 now only available as a tourer. But it seems cheaper to go with a 340 get more power and the latest interior.

I put my order in just before Xmas and its scheduled for mid/late March - fairly simple spec which I think keeps the wait time a little bit shorter than it could have been.

Can anyone tell me how the pre facelift G21s Harmon Kardon upgrade compares to the F31s equivalent? I find the sound in my F31 fairly decent but have heard the G21s is a bit underwhelming.

Very similar from memory. In isolation the HK in the G21 is OK but there are better set ups elsewhere.

Awaiting a price from Leeds BMW for my dad. He has decided on the 340 touring in Tanzanite, upgraded seats in cognac, comfort plus pack tech pack and pan roof.

Leeds came up cheapest on What Car so let's see what they come up with.

Nice colour combination - my G21 M340i is Tanzanite with the Tartufo Merino leather (so similar to Cognac) and I think they work very well together. A lot of people tend to spec Tanzanite with the Ivory White leather - which also looks good - and being honest I very nearly did the same; however, I do think the tan interior has a warmer feel to it whilst also being a bit more practical and I've certainly no regrets with the choice I made.

Hope your dad doesn't have to wait too long and enjoys the car when it arrives!

I spoke to BMW Leeds last week, they said I could have a 340i Touring for March delivery. I had oddly chose exactly the same spec as you have, bar including the 50th Anniversary Badge Set. £5k down was £799pm they told me.
