Has anyone taken extended warranty with BMW recently? I was wondering what sort of price to expect.
Mines 2021 with about 22,000 miles. It expires in March 24. Just tried online and had to call them. It won’t generate a quote until the 3 month point so I have to call back in late December.

What’s the general feeling with this? Is this the best route to go down?
When my 340 turned 3 years old BMW wanted £48 per month to extend the warranty, that’s with a £250 excess.
Been keeping an eye on prices of these for a few months now, they seem to be over valued at present compared to the rest of the 3 series range. Especially the face lift version. The M240i seem better value although these have not got MHT so not sure what the mpg will be like compared to the 340i .

I had to Google MHT.

Loved my 340 but ordered a 440 Grand Coupe replacement.

Thanks. I'd be happy with £48 per month. I'll update once I get a quote.

Thinking of buying one myself in the very near future, either a used LCI or to lease a new one. It'd be my first BMW (previously Audi & Mercedes only). Anything I should look out for when viewing used ones? Also any options packs I should definitely consider? If I go lease I'd probably just get the base version without any packs...will I still enjoy the standard music system etc.? Colour wise I'm leaning towards Skyscraper grey (ideally with red interior or perhaps oyster), Brooklyn grey (red interior) or mineral white. Dravit grey seems quite dark in some pictures and almost pearlescent in others so I'm undecided on it but maybe best to see one in person in the colour before making my mind up.

Appreciate any input on the above beer

They’re pretty well equipped generally, but I’d look out for comfort plus and the tech (plus?) pack. Get the electric seats if you can, which I think is in comfort plus. Feels more suited to the car. I’ve got the uprated sound system, but tbh, it’s never blown me away. That might be a factor to consider as the entry one might be even less exciting!

On colour, always personal preference. I really like the darker colours. It looks amazing in Tanzanite if you can find one.

On the whole though, they’re lovely things and great to own.

Any with a reg originating in Thorne (YA-YL) and absolutely no options (they normally have red brake calipers too), AVOID. They're probably ex-rentals and have been absolutely flogged- I've had a fair few through work and used launch control more times than I can count, as have many of my colleagues. I've seen a few of them pop up on the used market too...

Other than that, the tech pack is probably the one I'd personally think is 'essential'- the HUD is fantastic, and Harmon Kardon is a worthwhile upgrade. Adaptive suspension is probably decent, but in my view not necessary, I've never had a complaint about the ride in the base cars I've driven- whereas I despised the S-Line 2.0TFSI Audi A4's I've driven for the ride...

The dravit grey is a lovely colour up close and when the sun hits it. As said a must have pack I would say is the tech pack. The Harmon Kardon upgrade is average at best, so again I can imagine the standard stereo is dire. A sunroof can help lighten the interior up if you go for a dark colour. But in any guise they’re a fantastic car and after a test drive you’ll be smitten I’m sure.

Thanks, just seen one in Dravit grey with Tacora red interior…hard to know what to make of the colour due to it being so miserable where I am weather wise.

Thanks for the heads up! Don’t they all come with adaptive suspension? confused

agree. I dont have the ears to notice the difference of the better sound system.

Mine is black/oyster which works very well. The packs will help with resale value, even though you will never really use the seat memory more than once...!!

Sunroof is the only main option I dont have.

After seeing one in mineral white and another in Brooklyn grey, I think I agree with you that the car looks better in darker colours. Narrowed the colour down to Skyscraper grey and Dravit grey. Sapphire black is nice too but want a change as my current Merc is Obsidian black.

Got my touring new in Nov 23. Fabulous car, a real keeper. I have mineral white, which contrasts really well with all that gloss black and a pano roof.

Adaptive suspension is standard. My essential fitted options are HUD, HK hifi, heated steering wheel. Other bits and bobs fitted with packs, but I couldn’t live without the above.

Have averaged 29.8mpg in first 3000 miles.

Yes, it's standard on the M340i.

Seems that most BMW dealers are unwilling to offer any discount (even a token one) on a used M340i stating that they have a strict no discount policy...I thought the second hand market was generally improving but I guess not for particular models such as this irked

So technology pack is a must for HUD and HK...what does the steering wheel come under? Is it the comfort pack?

Yes.

This pack is so common I rarely saw a car without it though, so if it has the technology pack it would be unusual for it to be missing the comfort pack.

Anyone have pics of their Dravit grey car please in different lighting? Seen one but it was pretty overcast so hard to judge. Thanks in advance.

It’s a fantastic colour. I myself have an oxide grey touring. Not such a variation in colour as the dravit but still gives off different colour in different light.
