Make your own mind up. It’s an £80,000 car.
The market is pretty slim. You won’t struggle to try them all, or have dealers happy to let you try them.
What's an £80000 car now?The market is pretty slim. You won’t struggle to try them all, or have dealers happy to let you try them.
Getting a test drive shouldn’t be hard unless you’re a piss taker.

No idea a little SUV cost so much. Well I guess it's a medium SUV now.

You must be a faux enthusiast if you listen to a ‘tard on Youtube rather than test drive the car first.
Almost all of them are clearly bellends who should be ignored.
The danger is BMW might listen to them and so we get cars designed for bellends like Joe Achileeeeees!
If you read what I actually wrote, you'll see I said it was what a SAW in terms of ride that put me off. I actually said I could have decided with the sound off and I have no idea who JA is anyway.....Almost all of them are clearly bellends who should be ignored.

Especially on a very subjective element like ride quality being a determining factor.
I had my Z4 almost 10 years and loved it. I want one again. The only car I’ve ever wanted again.
Yet at the time, the very well respected ‘drivers’ magazine Evo said it was too stiff.

Ironically, I too loved the Z4, so I suspect we share some similarities, but I disagree with you about it being an £80k car..... I had my Z4 almost 10 years and loved it. I want one again. The only car I’ve ever wanted again.

Yeah, that is just from the BMW Individual site, you can adjust the colours but not many options....

They don’t even have red on the uk site as far as I can see. Or green.
This might be my perfect car right now in touring spec. Looks bloody lovely IMO. Grey with tan interior please
That is from the individual visulizer site I linked to above. 100s of colours to try out. This might be my perfect car right now in touring spec. Looks bloody lovely IMO. Grey with tan interior please
Those paints are nearly £5000 though, such a shame there are no colours available any more to UK customers from the standard palette.

Has anyone negotiated a lease or PCP on the m340 yet?
Still around £600 a month at the moment, that is with nearly 20% off list as well. I think we will see ex demo cars at £32/33k in spring and BMW support 2nd quarter of 2020, which should bring it down to more like £510 a month.
It is not going to drop much less than that, that is a £50000 car with £8000 finance support and £3000 dealer support and a GFV of £18000 at 2.9%.

Has anyone managed to test one of these back-to-back with a C43 AMG? I'm currently between those two as replacements for my M140i when our little one arrives in the new year. Last time I checked it's still not showing on the configurator either?
Based on observations and what the 'experts' say. The C43 is a formidable rival. However the C class will be all new in 12 months. Showing it's age. The BMW is very slick and the interior is a big step up on the current C. I suspect more room inside the BMW.A factor for kids. The BMW is slightly bigger. Boot space +30L, 2cm wider, 5cm longer.

C43 will underwhelm if you’re used to the B58 in a 1er imo.
Not sure about that. I’ve got a 140 and son has a C43 and i’m not underwhelmed by the C43- the opposite in fact if you want a firmer ride and instant reaction to the throttle. The 140 is a “softer” car and at my age more suitable for day to day than the C43.craig1912 said:

I agree with this, the 340i Touring I have is softer than the '17 C43 (as I test both and a B9 S4 Avant), but the C43 in sports mode had a ride that made my old E90 Msport on 18" run flats feel positively soft too. You have to like a hard ride (ahem!) to live with the C43. It's a really nice place to be though and it makes a great noise and I love the understated styling too. Vs a G21 M340i I cannot comment though. My decision came down to money though, the cost difference to go for a couple of year old used C43 estate vs a delivery mileage 340i Touring was over £6k and to get like for like in terms of age I was looking at something IRO double that; something which was a consideration for me as I was buying it outright. Then I had to factor in the Mercs considerably higher insurance, 4 ins grps higher than the BMW equated to nearly doubling the insurance price for me.
