Yes the packages are annoying. I ended us with a sunroof I neither needed nor want.
Obviously doesn't help you but, having had a brief look on the configurator, it seems BMW have had a play with the packages and a sunroof no longer features within any of them - if you want one you now have to spec it as a separate item. It also looks like the option to have Tartufo merino leather has been deleted, presumably because very few people opted for it - might make mine something of a collectors item then!

Yes there have been a few other changes. It also says it now has mild hybrid technology. I am ok with that in theory, but how much extra weight does it add, does it remove braking feel by having regen, and does it remove more exhaust sound? Cant see it being a good thing to be honest.

That's good news for me. The sunroof was the only item in the package I wanted, so that saves me the best part of a grand. It looks like the mild hybrid has also brought the touring down into a lower tax band, so saves over £400 in the first year.

I collected my M340i saloon on Friday from TRL, his was by far the best deal I could find. He's a nice guy and it was a smooth and easy process.

I've only done 150 miles but I already love it, it's a tangible improvement on my previous S4 in more or less every way. The HUD is brilliant, the low down torque is surprising and the car in general feels much more refined (in comfort at least, I haven't really had a chance to play with sport/sport plus yet). Not having electric seats and high beam assist is a bit of a shame, but I can live without them. And I can certainly live without the £3k+ extra it would have cost to have them.

Not everyone is a fan of the grill and black elements on these cars but I think it looks great. My S4 was a bit too much of a Q car if anything, so it's nice to have something with a bit more road presence. Being Mineral White it's probably not to everyone's taste (i've already had some ribbing from friends about it being 'drug dealer spec') but I'm happy and that's all I care about!

Lovely car! Great choice, such a well proportioned, fun car.

High beam assist is £160, download through BMW aps. I don't have the electric adjustment on the chairs, I have in most of my previous cars but I don't miss it, adjust the seat once and it's easy to find the sweet spot, I do have lumbar though. About the seats, they are super comfortable, I could spend hours driving this car, it's more comfortable then my 2018 5 series.

Mine's currently having front suspension and steering rack changed after a chap pulled out and hit my wheel, snapped all sorts of suspension bits, only around 5mph, flimsy things...don't hit a curb!

Jack, if you can justify changing the tyres then do so. I wouldn’t say ‘afford’ as I wouldn’t either even though it’s not a big deal, just a bloody waste of money. The bmw run flat quandary is simple. They save money doing it by ditching the spare.
It is more a case of having the package freedom to completely re-configure the rear body structure without having to consider a spare wheel space.

The ability to have a spare wheel and non run flat tyres would be perfect, but given the rear structure doesnt allow it I would settle for the option of having some non-run flat Michelin tyres and the pump kit. That is what my m240i had, and think other M performance cars have like the m850i. I think the m340i in the US even comes with them, so why not here?

Of course I can replace them for £600 but seems like a waste to ditch brand new tyres would be a waste.

Thanks!

Mine is a pre-July 2020 build (TRL had it in stock) so it doesn't have the extra button on the stalk. In Connected Drive HBA is greyed out and not available to buy. I was aware this would be the case so not a major issue.

And sorry to hear about the repairs!

The lower powered 420 etc, this month. The 440 will be March 21

I've notice this quarters support is almost cut in half. Only 5k presently making it 10% more expensive. For those that PCP that translates to almost £100 extra per month and the Audi S4 is now significantly cheaper. Not sure what they are thinking.

Perhaps they're struggling to get hold of enough M340i's to meet demand and hence - for the time being at least - the deals don't need to be quite so generous? Looking on the BMW AUC website I can't see a single G21 M340i for under £40k and there are some on there that have done several thousand miles - and have a lower spec than mine - that are advertised for more than I paid brand new; all suggests it might just be a bit of a strange market at the moment?

It is a very strange market, I was expecting the offer to improve in Q4, so surprised to see its actually worse, and makes the deal I secured at the beginning of Q3 look better. It must be the reduced supply, factory orders are 4-6 months still so there is no incentive for them to improve the offer. In the short term good for residuals I am sure, but I'd expect a market adjustment at some point.

I've had confirmation that my touring has been built and should be delivered beginning of November.

Congrats.
Good comparison against Mercedes you might like.

The C43 really is the only direct competition since the S4 went diesel, and I think it sounds slightly better than the 340, but there is something slightly chinzy about them which I don't like. However, if I went Merc I think I'd want the proper C63 AMG experience. Having said that, I'm sure that many will say the same about the m340i once the M3 Touring arrives in a couple of years. I'd expect that to be at least an extra £20k over the m340i though.

Wow, 4-6 months is a long delivery lead time by BMW's normal standards and that probably helps to explain why deals on the M340i aren't great at the moment!

Good to hear your G21's been built, on that basis I'd be surprised if delivery isn't later this month; however, even if it's November I'm sure you'll find it well worth the wait!

The C43 is an old platform now in comparison. When I looked you also didn't seem to get deals anywhere near as good as you could get on the M340i, though that might have changed if recent posts in this thread are anything to go by. The package structure in the C43 configurator is also beyond awful, with almost no ability to customise beyond one expensive and one very expensive pack which mostly comprise of things you don't actually want.

BMW are almost as bad, most options are in some sort of pack that forces you to have stuff you don't want.
