So my question for those with cars without it, is the stop start uncomfortable? Presumably it can be switched off. Is there hesitation elsewhere when driving and putting throttle down?
I don't know, it's my pre-drive routine to turn it off.

Start car
Switch off auto stop/start (can't turn off in the hybrid car)
Press adaptive
Turn off lane assist

You can turn off lane assist in the settings to it stays off.

It’s off in sport mode, so if you are in the mood to make progress it isn’t an issue.

It’s on by default in comfort, but can be switched off easily. It’s not like previous cars which restart when you release the brake though, the engine tends to kick in as you touch the accelerator.

It doesn’t get in the way much at all and their is a great little timer that tells you how much idle time you have saved.

Yes - off for good in mine.

M440i timed 3.8 seconds 0-60 by CarWow. How does this translate to the M340i??

This popped up on my drive home this evening, looks like the rollout is underway.

It was taking an age, got to about 9% after finishing my 30 min drive.

I'm not sure if it keeps downloading when the car is turned off, hopefully so!

And mine. I don’t know anyone who uses or likes it.

I found stop/start on my M135i was horrible. Very intrusive and clumsy. My routine was the same as others in that I turned it off or switched to sport mode as soon as I turned the engine on.

I have it on my 540i and I just leave it as is. It's quieter, faster and less intrusive than it is on the 1 series. Most implementations I've experienced have been bad but it can work.

It’s strange isn’t it how it is so different in each model. The wife had a X1 25d and the engine kicked in super quick and you were away immediatly.

Trouble is one day you’ll want to sell it on.

Hi, this is my first post on PH and hoping for some guidance. I am really keen on getting the M340i touring, so far every quote Ive had from dealers has been more expensive than I would of thought. My most recent enquiry (the car was priced at £41k) I asked what deposit would be required to achieve £500 monthly payments, which is my monthly budget. The salesman got back to me saying £12k, and the best interest rate he can offer at the moment was 9.9% on used cars. I noticed the GFVs on these cars are very low which doesnt help. On another car priced at 43k it was £3k down and £680 a month.
I was also considering lease instead of PCP, as your road tax etc is included, however with a few options they soon get expensive and probably a long wait time for factory builds.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

You should bargain hard, PCP rate offered on my near year old 440i (showroom demo) was 10.9% initially, I bargained it down to 5.5%, my bank offered me 4.5%....

Thanks for the reply.
I did say to them about lowering the interest rate, he said all they could do was go from 10.9 to 9.9%. His manger phoned me later that day offering to take £500 off the price of the car saying thats all they could do on the car. So in the meantime ill keep looking. To be honest I never knew the bank would do PCP finance so ill definitely look into that, thanks. After a quick google search I found some independent companies offering PCP as well.
The dealers I have spoken to about this model seem quite arrogant "they are very sought after models so we don't need to discount them, they sell fast" On the flip side of that I rarely see them on the road so I don't think they are selling in large numbers.
I am contemplating looking at the C43 estate as another option, a new model is out next year so a deal maybe more achievable. I have never actually driven a MB and never been a massive fan of them but it appears to be the most likely alternative. They do sound good as well.

There is not much point buying nearly new using manufacturer finance unless they can get the rate down to actually make it cheaper than new one with good discount.

When I ordered mine, a base one was £549 a month with £549 deposit. So to get the monthly to £500 it would have needed a £2,500 deposit. That is without any options. That was through the NHS discount scheme which a few others on here have used, and offered the best prices, and better than TRL. Its worth checking if you are eligible. If not, it's worth speaking to TRL who may have something in stock that a deal can be done on. If you are not aware of who TRL is, he is a online based dealer for Berry BMW and only corresponds by email.

List prices are increasing in January, plus the prospect of a Brexit tariff would increase prices more. So will only get more expensive unless BMW can offer a better contribution and/or a reduced APR.

There are load of finance houses that will do a PCP Halifax is 6.4% as an example, there are better deals on the new 340d touring at the moment £629 in and £629 on 2.9% for a new car, which would mean you paying 6k rather than 12k to get £500 payment but you might not want diesel but the B57 is a good engine coupled with the MHT it'll be very effective.

Bargain hard. I paid £38.5k for a heavily optioned m340i with 2000 miles I in February.
£4K in and £460 per month through Bmw pcp at 5.9% apr

To be honest the engine has only really started to open up since 6k miles. And when I picked it up it might as well have been brand new

JackReacher I was starting to think that would be the case, you can probably have a new car for less and option it how you want. I had a look at the scheme and think I will qualify, I will give them a call/email, thanks for the info. Ive seen TRL mentioned on similar forums he seems to have a good reputation.

Is there an ideal time to get a BMW? Im not in a particular rush, and you mentioned the increases in January so Im wondering if its worth waiting until December. Or do the increases apply to cars ordered now and collected after january? Or like you say if they are struggling for sales they may increase contribution to counter the increases. Thanks again
