840i M Sport Lease Deal
Discussion

Starting up a thread for those of us speccing, ordering and then waiting for our 840's - most of which will be on the Gateway2Lease deal of £3,165 down and £351.75 a month.
What has spec and options has everyone gone for?
Is the original poster employed by Gateway? I only ask because of the bizarre assumption of ‘our 840s’ and the specific pricing/supplier details (‘most of which...’) noted on the OG post. What has spec and options has everyone gone for?

The original discussion was on the lease deals thread, hence the phrasing of the OPberesd said:

Fingers crossed you can now relax and just enjoy the chit chat.
I could have had 69 plate as my car been here for good 10 (UK) days now. Hard to resist but dont want to pay for 2 cars for 2 months. Surprisingly, insurance is not that bad at 700 pm with fairly low excess at 250. Need to sort out GAP too and thats all. Anyone taking tire / alloys insurance?

£700 pm or pa?I've had a quote for GAP of £118.07 that I need to buy soon. Not bothering with Tyre/Wheel Insurance.

700 pm....? Ouch! I'm guessing that's meant to be pa...!The excess is low though - every other quote I've had, whilst an admittedly low premium, has had a fairly chunky excess. I've taken up the maintenance through G2L with Autoserve which was pretty reasonably-priced at around £32/mo inc (£1,024 inc over the term). I figured that a set of tyres and a service (of which it'll probably need both) would be more than that as the tyres are around £200/corner and a service will be at least £300. It also includes cover against punctures (unless it's down to sidewall damage) so we'll see how it works out. Either way there will definitely be running costs and I figured at least this way it's a known quantity. I also recall that RFTs can wear strangely and quickly and the 840i GC is a heavy car so I'm hoping I've made a prudent choice.
Am resisting the urge to email G2L for an update as they've said they'll be in touch every 14 days and right now the delivery date is in BMW's hands...

My partner will be a main user of 840i - mainly nursery runs and shopping. I think I will get away with tires but not a service -hence why I decided against maintenance etc. Service is not that expensive too. Had an S8 previously (from here , few years back) and apart from service and fuel / insurance there were no other costs. B58 is pretty good on fuel too so very happy :PThe excess is low though - every other quote I've had, whilst an admittedly low premium, has had a fairly chunky excess. Yeah, mine's on 10k/yr and I'll definitely use that so at least 1x service and 1x set of tyres..!Once I have a delivery date I'll get the GAP sorted using the price-match Ayman recommended earlier.
Question on the insurance though; I'm about halfway through the year on my existing policy with QMH and they've quoted way more to amend to the new car than to start a new policy. I've currently got either 9 (or 10, can't recall off the top of my head) years no-claims - if I start a new second policy with them, move the no-claims across and then cancel the first one will I lose the accrued NCD for this year? Normally I've just changed the policy and then shopped around at the renewal so I'm not sure what the process would be with doing the above.

Very true buy you know what they say about leasing - pick a deal not a car :PWe were in market for SUV and all cars we had seen were more expensive...
My other half said - at that price point I dont care about practicality... happy wife happy life.
