Main thing I am trying to figure out is how to activate the fold in mirrors.
If it's like other BMW's I've had, you need to make sure the electric wing mirror switch is notched onto the mirror it's probably notched onto in your case (I can't remember whether it's left or right!) When you engage reverse it should automatically dip when the wing mirror switch is in the correct place.
Basically just stick it in reverse and toggle your switch to see if it then dips

To activate the fold in mirrors you have to go to:When you engage reverse it should automatically dip when the wing mirror switch is in the correct place.

Scroll down to 'Fold Mirrors in when locked'

Is anyone getting alloy wheel insurance? The 50mm allowance per wheel is pretty small and I’m pretty sure all the wheels will be curbed sooner or later.
Not sure how lenient leasys are when it comes to inspection and charges. I’m trying to weigh up if it’s cheaper to get alloy wheel insurance or pay charges to leasys. It’s £150 for 2 years cover.
Opinions?

Just be careful. The 19s on my old 530E were perfect upon return. As were my Golf R 18s. A few of my wife’s cars have gone back with scuffs on the wheels but (with VWFS) we have never been charged more than £50 per alloy on any car. The 19s on her current car are spotless after a full year now. The 840i tyres have pretty large rim protectors as well. Not sure how lenient leasys are when it comes to inspection and charges. The sad thing with the wheel insurance is they will never generally get the same finish as OEM (diamond cut / 2 tone) as normally the coverage just provides for a mobile wheel repair van to turn up and do a quick repair.
Just my opinion but depends on how and where you drive it. Parking next to kerbs everyday - might be worth it.

There wasn’t much damage and I wouldn’t have normally bothered but with all this working from home I might as well.

I’ve just had 2 repaired by DWV (Dent Wizard Ventures) through my alloy wheel policy, they did a good job and you can’t tell they’ve been repaired, mine are diamond cut.

I probably ought to get my car cleaned properly and do a pre-return inspection myself using the BVRLA guideline booklet. I've got time to get anything corrected before the end of the month when it's due to go back...There wasn’t much damage and I wouldn’t have normally bothered but with all this working from home I might as well.
Car went in to Williams Liverpool for the battery issue and came back not fixed. It was with them all day and they spent most of that time trying to do the seatbelt recall fix - even though it has already been done!!!
They didnt realise it was done until after a few hours and then didnt have time to look at the battery. Absolute shambles. Software updates were not completed either.
Service Manager was due to call me before midday today to get it back in ASAP but never called.
I have found some contacts from LinkedIn at Williams and emailed them a complaint along with looping Phil Clench in who was the guy at Williams who sorted the deal with G2L.
Interesting experience of BMW so far.

Ive just spoken to Stoke BMW who are delivering by vehicle on the 17th.
Apparently car was delivered to dealer early June and PDid on the 18th of June so should have all latest software updates .
Battery has been checked also no issues I am told
No display key ( not bothered ) but will be an NFC card.
All good to go assuming Audi pick up my existing lease on the 16th as per booking :-)

Sounds about right! Interesting experience of BMW so far.
Had similar experiences with a couple of dealers in the past. Latest was with our M140i, it was in for an exhaust rattle.
Spring needed replacing. Ok, we'll check make sure we have one otherwise if we haven't it'll need ordering and booking in again. We'll let you know if that's the case so you can pick car up at lunch time.
No phone call until 4:30pm, your car is ready.
Arrive to pick it up. We've performed a software update (umm, thanks?) that took 5 hours. We didn't have a spring so you'll need to bring it back.
Great, thanks for that.

it took 9 days to take car to dealer ( from the point of reporting all issues ), 3 full days to complete and get car back in order that was expected when collecting brand new
° two different tyres on front axle
° "Replace battery" red warning light
° missing software
° scuffed alloy
° missing handover checklist
There was an additional delay caused by Phil , engineer from Tring BMW chased him with no luck and eventually gave up and sent me an email asking if I can reach them as no one is picking up..... It meant that they couldn't replace battery without auth and car had to stay for another day.
I have sent massive , harsh email on Sunday and Phil promised to come back on Monday.... No response.
Joke. Absolutely joke.

This is not filling me with confidence about my delivery in 2 weeks' time...
Sorry to hear of the issues you guys are having - and Simon, that's after the song and dance Phil did about covering off all the points with you at collection. Certainly doesn't sound like a 'flagship model' experience for several here.

Looks like the number of these 8series being churned out of Manchester has affected the quality of service.
Tbh, I have not 1 thing to moan about with my car from Stoke as everything works well except the right pedal....it seems to end up on floor of the car a lot and cause my face to fill with such joy. Think I might report that. Lol
