Might run my old one as a rear cam to prevent me from having to route the (seemingly quite fat) cable from front to back. There’s a fuse box in the boot that’s easy to access so I’d just need a piggyback fuse kit.
Not a bad idea running two separate cams - can you let us know how you get on smile
I was eyeing up the blackvue 2 channels, but if its a pain to run the wire to the rear, than perhaps this is the better route.

lovely pics!

What is the general consensus on comfort access and security on these? I made my mind up to disable comfort access once I take delivery of mine, but at the same time seems like a shame as it can be so convenient.

Has anyone installed a two channel dashcam, that can maybe share some advice on how easy it is to hide/feed the wire to the rear?

3 weeks and counting smile
I’ve left comfort access on but deactivated auto unlocking when approaching the car (I’ve naturally left on auto locking when walking away from the car).

The keys have motion sensors which deactivate the signal after 2 min, that said I’m thinking of getting a steering wheel lock as an additional deterrent as the car can be sat around for a few days at a time without use at the moment. Any recommendations from anyone? Ideally one that doesn’t mark the steering wheel like I understand Disc Locks do.

I am starting to get used to the tech now and finding my feet with it - really enjoying the comfort aspect of the car and not missing the S5's performance as i thought i would. I think its the fact the 8 series doesnt feel like the sort of car to drive fast anyway. It really does ride well considering the profile of the run flats.

In other news I thought I had done with leasing companies for a while but the Mrs wants a Touareg so now I am going back through the whole thing again on another car!!!

can we turn comfort access off?? absolutely love the fact it locks when walking away but turned off opening, due to proximity of the car to the house. lol

Nice car posted above , Dravit looks good with silver lines on side profile.

On another note , Phil and Chris from Williams offered me 500 quid as a good will gesture for all issues experienced. Case closed.

I have disabled comfort access too. Must say B58 can be very frugal wink

Fair result Pete, hope yours is now trouble-free! Simon - you posted yours on your drive the other day; all sorted too?

10 days til mine rolls up... Insurance was £550-ish in the end but I've added PNCD, KeyCare, courtesy car and uplifted Personal Injury taking it to £600 for the year - still less than the Golf R! Need to get my GAP set up too.

Mine is back in tomorrow for the battery issue - after my complaint letter there seems to be a lot more attention on sorting it. Will keep you all posted.

After endless quotes for now I've stuck with my current insurer as would have been nearly £60 to cancel plus I would loose 4 months worth of another NCD year - another £12 a month on top of what I'm already paying so no biggy.
My car is arriving Friday so I'm now starting to get a tad excited LOL :-) I do hope Friday is a sunny day !!

You can buy an OBD cable for the blackvue so that you don’t need to hardwire to the fuse box. That’s what I did. Pretty straightforward

I have one month remaining on my policy for when mine arrives and OneCall wanted an extra £175 inc their admin fee. They also bumped my excess up from £450 to £1350! Have done it for now and will find the best deal for an annual policy when it arrives.

Bizarrely it's cheaper for me to take a new policy with the same insurer through Confused then cancel the policy on the Golf - even with the £50 'admin' charge (which is bullst as it's all online and self-service!). To swap the policy to the BMW was another £180 for the 5 months to November..!

I'm going to wait until it's confirmed the car's definitely booked in for the 24th and then get the insurance(s) set up, probably middle of next week. The time really is whizzing past though!

If you raise a complaint they’ll waive the ludicrous admin charge. I’ve done it and it’s worked

Get a faraday cage, a lot of normal household objects work or you can buy a pouch from eBay/Amazon etc. All our car keys go in a lined biscuit tin which does the trick. As long as you understand the tech there's no risk

Great to know, many thanks - is that just raising a complaint through the account portal and before or after you've cancelled..?

I had two questions on iDrive that I would appreciate some help with.

Firstly, when listening to the radio the list of stations permanently stays visible (as per pic) and doesn't vanish after a few seconds. Anyone successfully got rid of the list so you can clearly see the station and song name?

Secondly for the sat nav I only seem to be able to select the overhead view that looks very basic, yet I know you can have a more 3d street level view. Anyone successfully selected this? Makes the sat nav look a lot better.

Cheers!

Let us know, as according to some guys in the US this is just a bug fix update:

https://f92.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t...

Odd as 03/2020 seems to be newer update that some g20 3 series are running, unless they have different variants for different models.
