ah bugger.

So for clarity:

BMW seem to have major updates in March, July & November; and additionally, minor updates are made & are shown by the numbers after decimal e.g 11/2019.70.

Hopefully when the July update is released we can make the jump straight from November to July, skipping March.

I still think it's poor that Android Auto isn't already on BMWs. AIUI, the anticipated update will enable it wirelessly rather than having to plug in, right?

Agreed, a massive oversight on BMW's behalf, not mentioning that they previously charged for the equivalent function on iOS.

Correct about the wireless- and even then only certain phone support this functionality mainly, Samsung and Google pixels phone If I remember correctly.

Yes, I have a Pixel 4 XL. AA works with my Golf but only when connected which feels so archaic when everything else I do doesn't involve plugging it in to anything...

I had two questions on iDrive that I would appreciate some help with.

Firstly, when listening to the radio the list of stations permanently stays visible (as per pic) and doesn't vanish after a few seconds. Anyone successfully got rid of the list so you can clearly see the station and song name?

Secondly for the sat nav I only seem to be able to select the overhead view that looks very basic, yet I know you can have a more 3d street level view. Anyone successfully selected this? Makes the sat nav look a lot better.

Cheers!
I had a look at map options and couldn't see a 3D view option weirdly, you're right though I'm sure I've seen it. I tend to use Waze anyway so it's not a huge deal for me.

Not sure about the radio view, not played with it much. The Audi system would hide the list but then do nothing with the left over space - they could have at least shown the current text by default or something.

After endless quotes for now I've stuck with my current insurer as would have been nearly £60 to cancel plus I would loose 4 months worth of another NCD year - another £12 a month on top of what I'm already paying so no biggy.
My car is arriving Friday so I'm now starting to get a tad excited LOL :-) I do hope Friday is a sunny day !!
Bizarrely it's cheaper for me to take a new policy with the same insurer through Confused then cancel the policy on the Golf - even with the £50 'admin' charge (which is bullst as it's all online and self-service!). To swap the policy to the BMW was another £180 for the 5 months to November..!

I'm going to wait until it's confirmed the car's definitely booked in for the 24th and then get the insurance(s) set up, probably middle of next week. The time really is whizzing past though!
If you raise a complaint they’ll waive the ludicrous admin charge. I’ve done it and it’s worked
Great to know, many thanks - is that just raising a complaint through the account portal and before or after you've cancelled..?
I cancelled then raised a complaint saying it’s excessive explaining my reasoning. They refunded me the cancellation charge upon investigation.

Good to know! are you running a rear cam too? if so how did you manage to run the cable to the rear?
My mate ran it for me. He’s on this thread. @Maf

Ran it via the A Pillar then across the passenger side to the back. Didn’t take long

Nice. It is taking the piss when it'll all be done automatically by their systems. I can't imagine there's any human interaction at all in the process!

If you don't mind, would you PM me the approach/wording you took that worked?

So BMW just called and they are keeping the car overnight. The master tech is speaking to Germany about the battery issue as it has been replaced but the warning on the dash has not gone away.

For those of you who had the battery issues did a straight swap fix it? Which dealership did you use so I can suggest Liverpool BMW contact them if need be.

Cheers

3d settings for buildings are accessible on sub menu on right hand side when map is displayed , map settings or something like this. 3d will only work in Central London and other major cities / landmarks , stand to be corrected though. Not sure about radio , will have a look later on gents.

I have enabled satellite view too , same place but still no luck , probably need to get to better reception area.

Orange ambient light is more orange now , after update loooool

Is anyone still waiting on a date for their car yet? I haven't heard anything for 3 and a half weeks, latest was 'not landed'. Surely can't be so far off now!
Got my update today. Status is Foreign port of exit. ETA for arrival at dealer is 3 weeks.

Anyone know approx how long it takes for dealer to do what they need to before it's ready to hand over?

Much longer and I'll be in a '70 plate!

Satellite view when selected only appears as you increase the scale ( zoom out ) .

Car is back from BMW new battery installed and warning light gone.

Figured out how to get the 3d buildings view on the sat nav, makes it look a bit better but its still very basic compared to the Google Maps in my previous Audi.

Still cant get rid of the radio station list from the middle of the screen though.

I got a courtesy call to tell me they couldn't do the collection. Rebooked for next Thursday and they're covering insurance in the meantime.
