Well I have had AA show up but can't seem to get my phone to connect to it. Not used AA for a while and possibly user error! Do I have to have the AA app open on my phone at the same time? Asume it need to connect via BT and not WiFi? I have a Huawei P30 Pro...
You will need Android 11 apparently.QueQwamo said:
is this just me or has the update reduced the car's exhaust notes??
seems the same to me in sport plus but the nice deep gradual upshifts in comfort at low speed may have changed slightly. One thing I do not get is a crackle and pop other than very briefly on a cold start in sports plus eg nothing after rapid acceleration then rest as per certain YouTube vids :-(

Regarding the update, I've still not been able to trigger it. I reset the vehicle data, but that did nothing, so had to put everything back to normal.
Apparently a really long drive is required, something like 100 miles, to get the battery charged up enough to do the update. Which is really annoying. As there's nowhere to go.
I drove from London to B’ham and back. Nothing triggered. Now the download itself has gone from my car so it’s attempting to download again. Even more worrying, is the fact the app sends a notification on my iPhone about remote software update being available. However, when I open the app it shows “no update available”.
Anyone have these issues?
I just received the same; gonna give them a call tomorrow and ask what the difference is - the former actually looks more likely to be correct than the latter (as we're on contract hire agreements).
Edit: spoke to them today - the newer name is correct and really a change in the description only. Nothing to worry about.
That said, it did turn out that apparently despite me asking for a quote for cover to include the £3k+ initial, that wasn't on my policy... They're correcting that now so anyone who took out a GAP policy with them should probably check it's been done as expected...

Well I've now reached 5K miles in this car ( Dravit ) since its mid July delivery with nearly every single mile driven a pleasure especially during long business trips up and down the A41 / M6 Toll etc. Very minor niggles aside this is a superb car. Its the straight six engine that makes the car for me which is so silky smooth when you want it to be and yet a beast when you unleash it - I'm sure the performance figures are exceeded in real life driving !!
Anyway.. I intend to drive careful over the winter as the weather closes in and I'm looking to what I hope will be a better year ahead for all of us ! Keep driving the 'dream' and stay safe.

During all this rain Ive just noticed a build up of condensation around the perimeter of both front head lights, seems to clear overnight but I shall be keeping a close eye
This has been a common issue even in the f series cars to varying levels. The led setup not warming much does not help either.BMW will refuse any warranty claim unless there is actual water droplets inside it. Otherwise it is a case of gently hair drying them.
Is anyone else experiencing the following:
As soon as I turn the fan on to remove the condensation from the windscreen the whole thing gets even worse and I can’t see a thing. Then after a few seconds the fan clears all the condensation. I’m sorry but it’s so unsafe. Many a time I’ve been driving and suddenly I can’t see a thing. I know this happens in all cars but this is the worst I’ve ever seen it.
Secondly, one of my exhausts has been giving out abnormal amounts of smoke since I got the car.
Anyone experienced these issues?

Don't move off until your windscreen is totally clear then...much safer! As soon as I turn the fan on to remove the condensation from the windscreen the whole thing gets even worse and I can’t see a thing. BTW, do you leave your air-con switch on all the time - or only when you 'need' it? I find I get more secondary condensation if I turn it off & on as required. If I leave it on, I get none of the secondary condensation.
Air con dries the air (as well as cools it in summer) so the car should have less moisture in the plumbing to come out when you turn stuff on, I never turn it off. It could be that. I can't say I've had the problem that bad.
As for the exhaust, it will be condensation too, the reason for only one exhaust is I'm pretty sure there is a flap thats closed on one side when on no/light throttle.

Updated my phone with a custom ROM, which uses Android 11.
Got wireless Android Auto working.
Its alright, can navigate using Google Maps etc
But have an issue with Whatsapp.
You can see someone has messaged you, click on it, car reads it out.
Asks "Do you want to reply"
Yes
Doesn't do anything. Now it reads the message and doesn't ask me to respond, just makes those beeps when waiting for a command.
I have to instead
Say Whatsapp, it asks who to send the message to, which works.
Whatsapp is also not listed on the buttons to click on. So you only have Google Maps and phone icon really. You can't add Whatsapp icon to the main Android Auto screen.
Phone is a Xiaomi POCO F2 Pro running MIUI 12.3.3 Stable - Android 11

I've updated and Android Auto has appeared. However, it is wireless only which means the system in compatible with just a small number of Google and Samsung devices. Annoying.
Just to update this, I've managed to get AA working on my Android phone by enabling "broadcast wifi" in the developer options. Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
