Just on this note - I reckon you'd have to be mental to buy one of these at the end of the lease; it won't have finished its' stone-like depreciation plummet and I wouldn't want to run one without a warranty, that's for sure - it's a £70k car and I've no doubt it wouldn't hesitate to rummage through your pockets in the event repairs are needed!
I think the price to Leaseys would have been early £50k, a few for sale with token mileage at that price. If so they may sell them out at early £40k end of term. It wouldn't interest me, I haven't bonded with the car. I appreciate the value for money over a fixed term but have no desire to keep it.

Confession time - I have no idea how to switch on the heated mirrors!
Pretty sure they come on automatically when you turn on the rear demister.
Ahhh that explains it then. Ill test it.

Think they're on when you start the car up (have been on other BMW's I've had).

Interesting you say you haven’t bonded with the car - as much as I love it in so many ways I think I feel the same at the moment - I feel it’s so good on long runs but piddling round to supermarket / everyday things etc it’s such a faf- size and blind spots - still happy with it as it’s so much car for the money- but is that blinding my overall judgement - need to live with it a full year me thinks ...

Yeah 8k for me @£325 . Definitely going to use my full allowance, the option to purchase was just info. I have ZERO interest there...

Talking of expensive repairs, my rear differential has been clunking at low speeds again. Haven’t bothered to fix yet, bigger problems in the world...
I had this issue too and was repaired, must be a common fault

FYI - Leasys want £900 a month to extend the lease formally, but happy to extend informally at my current £325p/m for up to 6 months at the end of term.
Very interesting. Were Leasys willing to commit to this offer of a 6 month extension at the existing payment level, or was this more of an indication that it should be possible?

I’d certainly be keen to extend at £352pm (10k miles) for as long as they’re willing to do it. Personally I think it’s a great car and spectacular value.

Got drivetrain fault back again but now it’s not going away. Had it on for a day now. Seems like a trip to the dealership again. Hate that.

That's a bummer mate, hope they get it sorted quickly. Get 'em to do your iDrive update at the same time...?

I had a strange problem with mine yesterday. I'd left it parked outside some shops for about 10mins, then when I got back to the car all these errors came up. I tried to drive home anyway but the steering had gone extremely heavy (almost like PAS had failed) so I ended up calling BMW Emergency Services. By the time they came out the car had been left turned off for some time and appeared to have reset itself as all the errors had gone away and steering back to normal. The breakdown guy said he could see some fault codes stored which appeared to match the errors, but car itself is Ok now.

Has anyone had similar or any ideas what caused it? 840d with 9000 miles

Mine grumbles a bit when pulling away or reversing off the drive for the first time each day. Doesnt seem as bad once the initial move of the care has taken place. What is the fix?

There do seem to be a daft amount of niggles with this car, far more than I've ever known on another new car. Besides the b pillar issue, I've also had the rear indicator failure issue and today 'driver assistance unavailable' (or words to that affect), I would certainly baulk at the idea of one without a warranty in the coming years!

I’ve had the driver assistance unavailable pop up a few times ... ironically seems to occur during heavy weather just when you might need it - I’m guessing sensors cannot cope under certain conditions - very poor

Possibly because a lot of the assistance features are optical and use cameras which could be obscured by a dirty screen or even temporary condensation inside the housing where the camera sits at the top of the screen?

Yes, you’re right, it’s condensation on the camera.

Yep won’t work if cameras dirty/driving in rain or cameras mist up - so not really what I would hope for - also find the way the rear camera is positioned ( stuck on ) it’s very prone to attracting any sort of road dirt - cheaper cars have pop up systems to avoid this - again it’s not up to scratch !!

Reversing cameras switched from hidden (like the 6 had) to permanently on because of safety capabilities and things like the built in recorder. The jag jet wash approach on the camera would be better.

Sensors get misted when cold, so does glass, it should clear pretty quickly in use. Coming from Tesla, if you think these are bad, you’ve not seen anything yet!
