People were reporting issues with it before I took delivery so I've given it a very wide berth with my arse.
That lower portion isn't the bit that comes away - it's just in the way and getting wear and tear. The bit to be careful of is the part where the lower and upper sections meet:That's the part that comes away all the time if you catch it with your shoulder. The whole design of the b-pillar sections is poor, bits protruding here and there and not particularly solid/durable.
Other than that though the car's been pretty decent to live with and I'm enjoying putting some more miles on it now restrictions have been easing.

Anyone have a clue as to why my service was due at 8500 miles? Piss take considering it was meant to be at 18k miles! I contact BMW who were utterly useless and kept saying to go dealer for key read and if it’s due I can book it in! Yet failed to give me an answer as to why mine is due at such low miles!Service done and reset and it’s showing next service due in 9k miles. Wtf?!!

Sorry, no idea
..but I've just noticed on the connected drive app you can now turn on safety (aka speed) camera alerts. Not looked into it further as I tend to use Waze but that wasn't there the last time I looked. Our Tesla is still technically more advanced as it has an electonic whoopie cushion and maybe a boombox soon.

£20/yr for something Waze and others don't charge for. I'd suspect they actually do a better job than the BMW system, being live crowd-sourced whereas the BMW won't be...
If you want live integrated speed monitoring, add the Amigo app (which is by TomTom) when using Android Auto and then open it when you start driving. It'll run in the background and give you live alerts even if your're using Google Maps for navigation. Amigo does fixed, red lights and mobile cameras, works really well.

Saw my first doppelganger on the road today, another sonic blue 840i GC on the M11 northbound this PM, tho this thad the multispokes and tan interior. Pretty sure it was another Williams Manchester car so possible another contributor to this thread. Unfortunately we were in the missus's F Pace so photo opportunity missed!
Anyone else finding the air con a little flaccid in the (only really slightly) warmer weather we're enjoying at the moment? It never seems to really cool the car down very much - it gets cold but never has much oomph unless set to 'Max AC' at which point it's all a bit too much...
I've not got it set to Auto either before anyone asks. I just want a nice, gentle and constant chilled stream of air but even on the top fan setting it's underwhelming.
Can't imagine how it would cope in actual hot temperatures!
