For those of you who are looking/hoping to extend your lease, I'll be the bearer of bad news.
You CAN extend informally for up to 5 months on the same pm rate BUT no additional milage is given (this will help some who have not done anywhere near their mileage allowance)
If you want to extend formally (1-3) years then the new price is £1000+
So i just informally extended up to 5 months or when I reach my mileage allowance.
I assume the excess mileage charge applies to that then, which people are getting varying figures of between 27ppm to 40.96ppm?You CAN extend informally for up to 5 months on the same pm rate BUT no additional milage is given (this will help some who have not done anywhere near their mileage allowance)

Thanks for sharing, I will extend for the 5 months. So far done 5,300 miles since July 1st so the 20k miles will still be ample for 2 years 5 months. If they're still charging the £350+ a month but not giving any additional mileage for it that's rather cheeky and significantly alters the VFM proposition:
20,000 miles:
£356/mo x 32 = £11,392 (£0.57ppm)
£356/mo x 37 = £13,172 (£0.66ppm)
The way other informal extensions have worked is that if the payments remain the same then the mileage increases pro rata too (so in the above example the mileage allowance would increase to ~23,000). That said though, it does feel churlish to be quibbling over this on such a good deal to start with and of course no-one's putting a gun to our heads to make us extend. Like Simon, I've only done 6k miles in 11 months so unless I really ramp it up I'll likely be 'leaving some on the table at the end' anyway.

Have you got this in writing from Leasys ?You CAN extend informally for up to 5 months on the same pm rate BUT no additional milage is given (this will help some who have not done anywhere near their mileage allowance)

It’s a bit like having a time share and just extending the time period to take those weeks holidays but your paying for that privilege with no additional weeks holiday added
Ok good option if you’ve done no mileage and your car has been sitting on drive way and your happy to pay for something you have in effect already payed for just to use the miles up - these cars need to be driven and not to Sainsbury’s and back
Roll on end of lock down and the ability to do a proper GT road trip - south of France is my hope before the car is handed back :-)

Thanks for confirming….. I asked Leasys for a formal quote to extend my lease from 26 months to 36 months pro rata mileage based on 10k per year would be an extra £300 per month - that’s less than I thought but more than I want to pay so think I’m best enjoying the remaining months I have it and if I have to pay for extra miles at 37.2 ppm so be it to allow maximum fun !!!

For those that went the bmw FS route, I checked and the only extension request that would be granted would be to bridge between the handback date and the delivery date for a new order.... other than that no extensions offered. You also cannot purchase the vehicle from them, if you wanted to, apparently you should contact the auction house...Benito88 said:
Interesting…. I can’t see cars like these being popular at an auction house - atm they’re late 40s on autotrader - after another year or so as electric cars become the norm who knows - early 30s or less maybe - a good buy for some one
Cheapest is 51k - anything starting with a 4 sells in hours. Prices have climbed recently. You see so few out and about even with the lease deals ending I don’t see the prices plummeting. A lot will pay a premium for an 8 over a used 5 series. Heres Johnny said:

Good morning to fellow 840GC owners.
Quick question - connecting a battery conditioner such as a Ctek for periods when the car isn't in use - is the battery connection in the boot?
Alternatively, could the unit be plugged into the lighter socket?
I've seen the jump start connection under the bonnet.

They are under the boot floor but not super easy to access. Using the terminals under the bonnet is probably the easiest. If it's kept outside you can still half-latch the bonnet too.Quick question - connecting a battery conditioner such as a Ctek for periods when the car isn't in use - is the battery connection in the boot?

I'll be extending mine unless another absurdly good deal turns up early next year in time for it to go back. Quite fancy a chunky off-roader for some reason.
