For those coming from S5 sportback how does the 8 series GC compare size wise - in terms of rear seats and boot?
480 vs 440 litres i believe but obviously with a far smaller opening. Rear seats in the A5 are more a 3 seater whereas the 8 GC has 2 seperate seats with a rather chunky centre console. Possible to seat 3 in the back but it wouldnt be ideal.
Compared to S4 Avant, more rear legroom, so better for 2 and worse for 3. Boot is smaller and obviously a lot less flexible - 4 up with skis is going to be a challenge - but on the plus side you can squeeze a road bike (wheels off!) in the boot without folding the seats down.

You would think that it wouldn't take nearly 2 weeks to "load the deal onto the system".

Exactly - it doesn't!

wen to local dealer and they had white 840i GC with M Tech Pack. We have almost 2 yrs old and you know what , you can live with this car and its not too bad me think. Tons of space inside , rear door do open wide and are light thanks to lack of door frames. Putting baby seat and baby in a the seat was ok and not too awkward - I guess 20 inch wheels keep the car fairly high up - I went in Golf R estate and found whole procedure easier on 8GC tbh. It will be a challenge in tight UK parking bays but I used to have S8 before so kind of got used to it :P. Trunk has a weird shape but its long and spacious at 440 L. Baby buggy and other things fit perfectly fine. Don't get me wrong, its not an X5 but will do the job! BTW - we have checked X3 too and 8GC is much more comfy for rear passengers! Boot in X3 is perfect but rear space is limited especially with tall drivers sitting upfront (I am 6'1).

Received invoice with admin payment details so all good! 1st week of April - roll on!!

What were your thoughts about the car in white?

It does sound like things are getting moving and they're working through a backlog?

I'm finding it really hard to sit on my hands and not keep bugging them; I know the team at G2L have said 'all good' but it still feels like limbo..!

It looked freaking amazing! You must take black pack tho make it look right - demo car had black roof too as well and as a package ... very aggressive and composed. Blue M sport brakes looked nice on white / black car too.Having said that - I am keeping my Sunset Orange!

I like white but agreed you need the M Sport pack and pan roof to make it look its best.

Has anyone come across any pictures of black exterior with the chrome surround instead of shadowline?
Saw a Barca blue at a dealer and thought it looked really good, much better in real life

I guess the longer this drags on, the lower the chance of this deal working out.

Possibly.

To be honest though I appreciate that G2L aren't just shoving through orders and credit checks on cars they may not be able to order; I prefer their more cautious approach which fills me with more confidence.

I’ve just ordered my 840i via BMW berry’s Heathrow. I’ve been told by the dealer that BMW are putting the prices significantly at midnight tonight and the dealer has just received 7 new orders as a certain Leasing company has contacted its customers to say they can’t honour the deal.

On another matter, does anyone know if the standard "Icon Adaptive LED Headlights" on the 8GC have the full functionality of the same lights on other models such as the current 5 Series and X3, where they stay on main beam but black out rectangles to avoid dazzling other drivers?

Given that there are optional Laserlights which have this feature, I could imagine BMW trying to make a greater difference between the standard and optional lights to encourage people to pay up. I wondered if on the 8GC they simply dip the lights as BMWs used to a decade or two ago, rather than do the clever stuff...

Luke.

I submitted my order and finance application to G2L yesterday.

Fingers crossed it's all good but if not then nothing really lost and if it falls through then hopefully the Stratstone offer is still on the table.

Went with Dravit Grey with Cognac interior - a departure for me (I'm a black+red man normally) but I really like that combo.

I can pretty much assure you that is absolute bullst. Berry Heathrow are the worst dealers I have ever come across and I wouldnt even buy a packet of crisps from them let alone a car biggrin If you want to know why DM me - it's long! And not once but twice!

I hope this works out well for you but they are full of st and typical bullst salesman talk from them. 7 orders - utter rubbish!

Well I'm not sure who the certain leasing company is, but nobody's contacted me. Sounds like horsest to be honest.

I have an order in (still subject to credit check and deposit) with G2L and I know someone with Select - neither have been told that this deal is off. I am starting to wonder about the delay though, so I guess it is possible.

I suppose it depends which offers they can't honour - I've paid and accepted mine. I guess those waiting for quotes might be out of luck, but there's not really anything to 'honour' as such if firm prices haven't been given.

Either way, it sounds like a salesman trying to shift cars to me. At the prices being quoted originally, you'd be better off leasing for two years and THEN buying a car - no way will one of these only lose £10k in two years, even assuming you can land a car for nearer £60k in the first place.
