Can the 325i be remapped like the E82 125i can to give 1/330i performance?
Early E90 325is can't as they have the N52 engine, so the 325i is a 2.5 litre and the 330i is a 3 litre.

Later ones (2007 onwards I think) had the N53 engine which is a 3 litre in both models, so mapping that era 325i might be an option (but I don't know).

I am in the same situation at the moment...

I have a 2006 130i which has nothing at all wrong with it. I really enjoy the car. Previously i've had an EP3 Civic Type R and a full fat Clio 182, both of which were awesome. I wasn't disappointed moving to the e87.

I've been looking at:

- E92 M3s which i am sure, if i hold out a bit longer, are going to be good value even budgeting to sort out any issues as already mentioned here. Engine of the year from 2008-2012 (i believe) and an excellent chassis apparently.
- 135i / 140i - i'd like to try one, slightly worried i'd be a bit disappointed
- Audi RS5 - i think this would be a nice step up, would feel a bit more refined than the M3 but probably lacking slightly from a handling perspective
- Audi RS4 - putting this up against the M3 is an interesting comparison - slightly concerned that they are getting a bit long in the tooth now

There's plenty more but those are probably the contenders.

I think the E92 M3 is just about as cheap as it's going to get at this stage.
On the 135i/140i, drive one for sure. They're a very specification dependent car, and because they were at the extreme end of leasing or company car budget for some people, there are plenty around with a very basic spec. I would have one - or a M235i/M240i if I could.
